Most important, will they be fixing the trunk lid aberration on the CTS? gothicaleigh 02-20-04, 08:49 AM What aberration do you speak of? HotRodSaint 02-20-04, 12:47 PM What aberration do you speak of? That butt ugly thing called a license plate surround. :vomit: They attempted a fix on the CTS-V by painting it. It looks a little better. But it's still not the right solution for a luxury car maker that is trying to be taken seriously. Especially on a car that is 50g's! gothicaleigh 02-20-04, 03:11 PM The late 2004's onward have them bodycolored like the V. Looks real nice that way. gothicaleigh 02-21-04, 11:01 PM I must say I like the new CTS rearend much better than the competition (and I'll be kind and won't post the trainwreck on the back of the new 5 series): http://gothicaleigh.5u.com/images/bmw3rear.jpg http://gothicaleigh.5u.com/images/bmw5rear.jpg For comparison (photo of CVP33's CTS-V): http://gothicaleigh.5u.com/images/cts-cvp33.jpg HotRodSaint 02-22-04, 07:38 AM I agree that the painted insert is a big step in the right direction. Now they need to retool the trunk to rid it of the crease to finish it. Infiniti did it for year two of their G35 sedan. At the level Cadillac is trying to play, doing it right is more important for their image than saving a few pennies. And I'm not a fan of BMWs design. I think Audi and Mercedes are much better looking cars. So is Nissan with their new Infinitis. I think the G35 coupe is one of the best looking 2drs available on the market. Certainly better looking than GM's new Goat. If it only had the power. It is interesting that the CTS-V has a line in the bumper ala the 3-series. Maybe they looked at that car too much while designing the CTS-V? HotRodSaint 02-22-04, 07:41 AM Also just to be fair to BMW, you posted pictures of the base models, not the M's. The M3 does fix some of the design issues on the 3-series. gothicaleigh 02-22-04, 11:21 AM I tried finding a rear pic of the new '04 CTS', but was too lazy to search any further. The new ones look just like the V from the back minus the exhaust pipes and grooves in the bumper cover. Vesicant 02-22-04, 01:38 PM The CTS-V's rear end coupled with the taillights, look familliar to the head of a praying mantis... anyone else think so? FastCTS 03-25-04, 11:35 PM 03 with newer rear deck cover Playdrv4me 03-26-04, 02:29 PM I agree that the painted insert is a big step in the right direction. Maybe they looked at that car too much while designing the CTS-V? I agree with you HRS, the G35 coupe is one of the most beautiful cars out there right now. The rear tail-light assembly needs to be a smidge darker (I dont like to see the plastic inside) or have "lenses" but other than that its just about perfect, the sedan however is quite different and needs alot of work. Im not a fan of BMW's NEW design, but I dont think anyone really is with the contraptions they are putting out now so thats no surprise, Mercedes new designs also leave something to be desired in some of their model categories. As far as the CTS, the back is my favorite part, I dont like the headlight design at all simply because just like with the G35 tail-lights, you can see all the inside plastic edges and trim, it either needs to be darker or have some fluting to it or something, the glass lens chrome rings look very out of place. Overall though the CTS is tied with the 3 series design-wise in my book, very smart use of angles. megeebee 08-19-04, 04:08 PM Can anyone say when the next generation of CTS will be released? gothicaleigh 08-19-04, 07:31 PM 2008 is expected to see a mild redesign with coupe, convertible, and AWD versions available. | |
