View Full Version : I got a FREE CADILLAC FLEETWOOD COUPE Today :) 1990CaddyBrougham 09-16-06, 11:30 PM Oh today was a great day. You guys may remember my post a while ago on whether a 80-84 rrear bumper will fit a 79. That the guy only wanted the back bumper for his 79 off a coupe.
Well after the whole summer i went back. Both cars not touched.
I went by half dozen times all summer, guy was never home.
His wife let me in, i said i came by earlyier in the year to look at it, she said, you must be anthony then... I said yea, how do you know, well you number is on our fridge from when you left it she said. (her husband was in the shower) So waitng for him we talked cars, said how she likes driving in the big caddys, and how she is so happy to see a kid like me liek them and want the load that is sitting on there lawn. ANd how she wants me to get it... bla bla bla.
Her husband came out, talked for about caddys for 45 min, and just told me i could have it. (after telling him the bumper wouldnt interchange, bumper is ****ing rotted anyways) So i was all happy and what not told him that id be back with a trailer and to take anything he wants out of it. Then he told me it was a car from NY and may have bodies in the trunk.... who doesnt say that about cadillacs.....
went back at abot 830 and tried to jump her to drive her on the trailer. (after years of sitting under a pine tree) no go, battery was DEAD!!!! Went home got a good battery, some gas and went back, battey in, gas in and it started rgiht up!! ht 4100 purrred again. It sparked some intrest and the negbors came out... they were happy to see it leave, i dont blame them really.
Car is a 84 Fleetwood Brougham Coupe. Light blue on blue, exterior paint has a nice mossy green custom caked tint to it, and about 4 inches of tree sap and pine needles caked all over it. Pine needles everywhwew, all under the hood and all over the car. Mind you we took it home on a trailer on the highway going 70 and i think maby 2 needles blew off. Shit was caked on.
runs ppissser, leaks tranny flud from a line, and bad break line.
Body is fairly rust free, under side... ehh. Fact. wire wheels, and custom grille....
For a first i can say, the picstures DO justice for the car. Lol.
Hey it was free.
:highfive:

you said that...
...I'd restore it. How much would you want for the whole damn thing? 1990CaddyBrougham 09-16-06, 11:45 PM Starting with the wrong car to restore here, really.
There are so many to be had. my dad told me the same thing.
To much work.
first time i drove a 4100..... ran great even though it was bleeding tranny fluid and break fluid all over the place. Lord Cadillac 09-16-06, 11:46 PM Great deal! heh! Looks like a good fixer-upper! Good luck! Post some pictures after you clean her up... Benzilla 09-16-06, 11:47 PM Sal, did you read anything posted above? I've seen worse than that restored really nice. it just takes the right person. I think after it gets cleaned up really good it won't be that bad. Cadboy425 09-16-06, 11:55 PM Thats awesome that you got that car for free. What was the condition of his other car would he part with that too? BTW, whats the red Conv in your garage looks really sweet? 1990CaddyBrougham 09-16-06, 11:58 PM HIs 79 is as much of a load as this 84. Its a De Elegance, thats the only good thing. i dont think he will part with it, but it was sitting all summer to, not driven. It was in poor shape to, not AS bad, but not great.
The red car is my dads 57 Chevy Bel Air convertible. ALl restored.
Untill tomorrow! I will post new pics tomorrow. ShadowLvr400 09-17-06, 12:37 AM You seriously plan on demo derby'ing that Fleetwood coupe?!?! If so, I'll buy it beforehand. I need a secondary beater/alternate project car. You seriously plan on demo derby'ing that Fleetwood coupe?!?!
yeah really. man just sell the thing for a few hundred bucks... dont do that to a Cadillac. if it was an olds or buick or something i would say go for it... but a Cadillac? come on now :tisk:... you could fix that thing up no problem. looks to me like the interior is fairly clean so all i am really seeing is body work and paint. plus those other problems can be fixed no problem. its your car so whatever... Benzilla 09-17-06, 02:12 AM What he said, exept for the last line. :D DopeStar 156 09-17-06, 03:51 AM Are they the real wire wheels?! If so DIBS!!! I'll take 'em in crap condition I don't care. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease?! urbanski 09-17-06, 07:32 AM You're going to kill it :(.
shit, if it was mine I'd restore it.
killing it would be sad :( urbanski 09-17-06, 07:34 AM Great deal! heh! Looks like a good fixer-upper! Good luck! Post some pictures after you clean her up...
Sal, did you read anything posted above?
he's going to kill it :( The Ape Man 09-17-06, 08:37 AM You might be missing a few facts. That body style isn't the same as a Coupe Deville. Look at the VIN prefix. It is different from all the others. The car you have there is very hard to find. They usually have a ton of rust under the vinyl top trim where it meets the rear quarter panels. If you do decide to junk it then put it on ebay and watch someone buy it just for the rear clip. Looks like a good donor car for a lowrider conversion. I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-17-06, 11:01 AM Don't demo derby the car. It'll be a total and utter waste of a restorable '84 Brougham Coupe. pimpin88 09-17-06, 11:04 AM DONT trash it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 90Brougham350 09-17-06, 03:01 PM If you destroy this vehicle, you'll be lynched by a collection of your CF peers. Save the Coupe! DopeStar 156 09-17-06, 03:14 PM I agree, just go get a set of regular steel rims for it, and sell it on ebay, then ship the wires to your best friend DopeStar in North Jersey.
*Puts arm around you and gives you a BFF ring* :D brougham 09-17-06, 04:05 PM Wow. I wish someone would give me one of those for free! It looks OK but maybe it's rotted underneath and under the hood and has holes when you open the doors. Who knows. I've seen cars that look good until you start looking at them. It's not like they're that hard to find. I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-17-06, 04:06 PM If you destroy this vehicle, you'll be lynched by a collection of your CF peers. Save the Coupe!
Yeah, they'll lynch you, I'll steal your '90. ;)
Don't do it :) DopeStar 156 09-17-06, 04:31 PM Yeah, they'll lynch you, I'll steal your '90. ;)

Hey! You guys can't talk to my friend that way!!! :want: FASSTWOOD 09-17-06, 06:06 PM Plenty of coupes devilles made but not that many fleetwood brougham coupes. I forget the numbers but it was either 3000 or something like that produced... I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-17-06, 07:33 PM Hey! You guys can't talk to my friend that way!!! :want:

umm, other than the landau and some trim, its all the same sheet metal as a Coupe Deville. Still very rare.
If you demo that thing you'll never live it down, and somebody from this forum will find you, Sal knows where you live! 1990CaddyBrougham 09-17-06, 09:37 PM You guys have a strong opinion on this subject.
Though you must not be lookin at the right pics.
Car is in Ok shape, bottom is prob rusted, it sat for a long time outside.
I cleaned it up today though. Looks better. Drivers 1/4 is a bondo cracking mess, rust on inside of doors on the bottom, none in the trunk (which i may take)
Wheels cleaned up for the minimal efforrt. I am going to look into havin them re done. (sorry dopestar)
Still unsure of what i will do with it.
Either part and sell the parts
Or part and keep the parts for my "to be" lecab
or sell whole.
Anywhich way the wheels are mine. :)
Bad break line, trans line.
TMU on title
no headliner.
nose is smaked up.
IDK guys...
here is what happend today.

Still havent looked at athe motor good or the under side.
Im going to look at a regualr coupe de ville this week, white withe a white top, burgandy int. nice paint, 80k miles, rebulit 4100, nice shape. wanted 1000 firm, its mine for 300 when i go. :) Benzilla 09-17-06, 10:31 PM The interior looks pretty good! Why does the back sit so high?
I still think it's too good to be parted out, it looks solid. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-17-06, 11:06 PM yea the back of it is ****ing jacked. I dont know why.
did these have tow packages?? I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-17-06, 11:33 PM Even if you don't want it, you can still sell it for parts and make a profit off of it. Yeah, at least let the ol' girl help restore some rides. She doesn't deserve to go to the crusher! No Cadillac does.:tisk: :) Benzilla 09-18-06, 02:14 AM If you MUST part it out, then do it, however, being so complite, it would be nice to see it restored.
as long as you dont demo it. DopeStar 156 09-18-06, 02:51 AM Umm.... I don't see much wrong with that car, why can't it be restored? (I know that site has been posted before, but its amazing) The Ape Man 09-18-06, 08:27 PM umm, other than the landau and some trim, its all the same sheet metal as a Coupe Deville. Still very rare.
It's not the same sheet metal as a CDV. I own both. Ain't the same. Look at the rear quarters where the roof meets. The rear window is in a different spot too. Benzilla 09-18-06, 09:38 PM Well, yes, the rear window is different, but how is the sheet metal different? like, in what way? I was always told it was the same basic body, so please inform me. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-18-06, 10:58 PM roof is deiffernt, some more trim thats it. body parts will inter change. same car.
you guys will be proud. I have a guy who is REALLY REALLY intrested in having it shipped to Cali to make it a low low. :) 1990CaddyBrougham 09-18-06, 11:52 PM yup def not gona be destroyed.
guy wantss me to name my price, for the car and load it up with 90 parts and he is going to have it containerd to sunny CA.
I have been selling this guy parts all year. He is serious and ligit Red_October_7000 09-18-06, 11:59 PM Oh no!
I'd honestly rather see it go out in a blaze of glory at the demo derby than get carved up by some phillistine's torch to make a bounce-up-and-down car. Is there no-one who just wants to fix it up? :( Benzilla 09-19-06, 12:15 AM Not all lowriders are bad, some are nice. And not all of them are hoppers. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-19-06, 09:29 PM SOLD as of now its sold for 1200 and will be container shipped to Califronia.
Best deal i have to say, since i got it for free and have only had it a few days.
It will either be restored to factory and resold or made into a lowrider. caddycruiser 09-19-06, 09:37 PM SOLD as of now its sold for 1200 and will be container shipped to Califronia.

Now, if only I could start making such terrific and fun fiscal moves...that, or at least had the space and time for it all! I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-19-06, 09:43 PM That's a 1200% profit! Amazing! CadiJeff 09-19-06, 09:48 PM The interior looks pretty good! Why does the back sit so high?

that sits pretty much the same as my 81 deville, and mine does have the tow package Cadboy425 09-19-06, 09:49 PM Congrats on the sale...u should go pick up his other one now!! 90Brougham350 09-19-06, 09:55 PM Does he know about the CF? Great minds... 1990CaddyBrougham 09-20-06, 08:41 PM yes he doest know it was free. But he his a permante guy im going to go to when i pick these cars up. Once this blue one is gone i have a white coupe de ville waiting for its spot. double white with red velour. not a parts car though. or demo derby... caddycruiser 09-21-06, 01:44 PM You know, it still really makes me wonder what kind of a "deal" you could have gotten on that black/red '93 Fleetwood I had you look at for me in November... The Ape Man 09-21-06, 06:46 PM Well, yes, the rear window is different, but how is the sheet metal different? like, in what way? I was always told it was the same basic body, so please inform me.
Sheet metal pix. The roof line is quite different. Rear quarter panels will not interchange. All the bolt-on stuff WILL fit but there are dozens of rivit type attachment points for the extra trim on the Fleetwood. Some hack shops use aluminum rivits to install these when using incorrect sheet metal. Rusts like mad due to dissimilar metals. brougham 09-22-06, 01:31 AM It doesn't look that different. It's usually the landau roof that's different and everything else is the same. Benzilla 09-22-06, 04:19 PM Sheet metal pix. The roof line is quite different. Rear quarter panels will not interchange. Are you trying to say that the actual shape of the rear quarters is different? Or just the rivit points? Because your the first person I'v ever met that thinks its a totaly different body style. The roof looks exactly the same exept for the landau windows. 90Brougham350 09-22-06, 05:43 PM Looks the same to me with different vinyl. The Ape Man 09-22-06, 09:04 PM Don't ever go into the bodywork business guys. brougham 09-22-06, 09:36 PM Well since you're so smart what's the big difference? Because what those pictures show isn't very much. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-22-06, 10:04 PM Im already there... looks the same to me. differnt top yes. im sure 1/4 panels would interchange. Benzilla 09-22-06, 10:28 PM I think what he means is that the mounting holes are different, but other that that, same thing, right? davesdeville 09-23-06, 05:27 AM So that's why the Fleetwood Coupes look so awesome. Thanks for posting those Ape man. Pete Benson 09-23-06, 07:09 PM It doesn't look that different. It's usually the landau roof that's different and everything else is the same.
Exactly. The sheet metal is the same. It's the vinyl half-roof style that's different, mostly because the rear quarter windows are enclosed on the Fleetwoods, and exposed on the Devilles. Wheelman322 09-25-06, 06:40 PM I didn't read all thae posts, but if you want to sell the wire wheels and stock radio...i'll buy. caddycruiser 09-25-06, 07:36 PM I didn't read all thae posts, but if you want to sell the wire wheels and stock radio...i'll buy.
No, he actually sold the whole car, so that's out:thumbsup: 1990CaddyBrougham 09-25-06, 09:39 PM I still have the car.
They guy is "looking into shipping. Has been for the past weeek. My luck he is going to back out.
Anywhich way wire wheels are mines and the radio is gone. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-25-06, 10:35 PM Now its official.
Guy backed out. his original thought of 400 to ship clear aross the contry was 400 shy of the real price.
I hate when people offer you a price and then back out. To me when you offer someon money for something,,, its yours.
Oye! now i got a nice parts car for the CDV... lol. DopeStar 156 09-26-06, 02:04 AM Oye! now i got a nice parts car for the CDV... lol.
That sounds backwards...... Benzilla 09-26-06, 05:20 PM You should do a Fleetwood top kit on the Deville. 1990CaddyBrougham 09-26-06, 09:05 PM No way. How much will i really be able to pull for that CDV... not enough for a new top. | |
