So how hard is it to replace the Fule filter on an 88 FWB with the 307y?

The fuel line is metal, not rubber.... That's as hard as it gets....

It's not too hard. It's inside the carberator. Unbolt the gas line and then just use a wrench to take the big nut off and the filter is right there.

make sure you dont break that metal line though, cuz that would probably suck.

Remember, you MUST have a 1in wrench on the filter housing and a 5/8" LINE wrench on the line, so you don't twist lines.... Sorta like the picture there....

Don't be tempted to put in rubber line. I have some rubber line in my 80 T/A and after it has sat, it has more leaks than ....., well you get the idea.... Keep the steel lines, they are much much safer.

I know. Trust me it sucks having to call the shop and explain to them YOU crippled your own car, then pay the extra to have it towed there. My fuel line is a system of patchwork right now because of that mistake and from road salt rotting out the line under my passenger side door. I really need to get a new fuel line put in.

I cont answer your question. Im not a mechanic either...
BUT..I was on the AC DELCO site and believe I saw there the ability to buy the original GM service manual for 1988. Since I am not a mechanic and would like to have an idea of ow to do a few things like you, I am considering purchasing the $120 manual. Also you could go to an Autozone or Pep Boys or such store and purchase a HAINES or Chilton book.. be careful.. there is a different book for front wheel and rear wheel drive caddy's. Better yet look at both brands of book to see which covers in better detail what you want to do. I purchased both the Hanes and Chilton.. each covers some things better than the other.
