I bought an '88 Fleetwood d'Elegance a couple months ago that was in fairly great shape, only a few minor interior issues and some brake work that needed to be done, and it had no stereo.

I recently acquired a Pioneer DEH-P3100 cd player and am looking to install it so I can hear more than the air whistling in my ears  . After finding the manual and the wiring diagrams for both the stereo and the Fleetwood I decided to give it a crack at wiring it all up. Ran into some issues, probably the most worrysome being that there are quite a few open wires laying in the hole that are colors my diagram did not include.

As soon as the batteries on my cell phone are charged I'm going to take pictures of all of it, but I was wondering if anyone here could help me out with some general tips on how to hook up an after-market stereo to a 1988 Fleetwood.

EDIT: Here are the pictures, hopefully someone can help identify these wires for me:

The wiring chart I have does not include all of these wires and I'd like to be able to hook this up myself to avoid paying someone to do it for me. If I can't figure it out I'll do that so that I don't catch my stereo on fire, but let me know what you guys think.

Get a wiring harness. Then match colors.

Anyways, blue wires are remote wires(antenna and amp), yellow wires are power wires, as well as red, black wires are ground wires, green wires are parking brake wires, purple probally is your antenna wire. The other wires are most likely are speaker wires.

Find a harness at a junkyard and get that. It'll take the headache out of all the wire ID work now and in the future.

For what its worth...

The dk/lt blue, brn/blk, grn/lt grn, and gray/lt brn(?) pairs SHOULD be speakers.
You could confirm this by the 1.5v battery test... with ignition off, of course.
And presuming the speakers are OK...

Pink(red) should be switched power, black obviously ground. Can't remember if yel/blk is panel lites or not...

The org/blk SHOULD be constant 12... for memory or such...

Or you could find a harness at a junkyard and get that... I heard that somewhere. :bouncy:
