View Full Version : Sealed or Ported joeyblaze 09-14-06, 03:27 PM Ok I wasn’t sure on how a sealed box Vs a ported box effects the sounds quality. In my GTP I had a sealed box which seemed to have tight bass but less of it, now in my cts I have a ported box and it seem to not be as tight and crisp but much more bass, is this the difference, are some speakers designed for ported vs non ported. Im thinking of buying a sealed box for my car to see how it sounds, that or maybe I just been OCD on my bass. But any inputs thoughts comments or what u feel is the best please in put. J

my set up Lord Cadillac 09-14-06, 04:17 PM Some speakers are designed for a sealed enclosure and some are not. In my experience, a sealed box gives tighter bass, but not as loud. CadillacSTS2003 09-14-06, 04:39 PM it depends on the car and subs
your putting them in a trunk so id reccomend ported if you wanted them to sound louder joeyblaze 09-14-06, 04:42 PM well i posted a link to my set up,. its plenty loud, so u think i should stick with the ported CadillacSTS2003 09-14-06, 04:57 PM your box is already ported were you planning on buying another or making one?
no offence intented but i HATE audiobahn, complete crap and the audio forum that im a mod on everyone else hates audiobahn too so idk about the power issue. Your amps probably over-rated, however you sub are very good. I have a seal box in the trunk of my eldo with 3 jl 12w6s and a 2000 watt us amp. Ported everything rattled and it was so loud i got constant headaches. I have a sealed box and it sounds more clean and more crisp. I usually always reccomend sealed but it all depends on the buyers tastes. Did you remove the rear deck sub in your car? If so then id stay sealed your trunk will act like a box and that sub being removed a vent. joeyblaze 09-14-06, 05:41 PM your box is already ported were you planning on buying another or making one?

yeah the Amp is so-so but at 90 bucks i couldnt say no, you know what i mean i was on a tight budget. No i still have the rear sub in the deck, the box i have now is ported not sure yet if i like it or not. what i was thinking of was to buying or make a sealed boxed and see how it sounds.
yeah the speakers are awsome got them buy one get one, so once again had to go with the deal but i lucked out. the727kid 09-14-06, 07:57 PM Yea Audiobahn trash. Better than Sony though lol. Anyways it really depends on the sub. My sub is clean tight and loud bass in the ported and at 35hz at that, I couldn't imagine it getting any better in a sealed box.
What speakers do you have? I would imagine ported is your best bet. Just power them right! joeyblaze 09-15-06, 02:42 PM got the amp 50 75 bucks open box, bout 14 doller 4 year protection plan, amp should retail for about 170 on sale 330 normal

Never said anything about their relibility. Their power, SQ, and over-all output suck. | |
