Hey guys, yeah i got a wierd question, I just replaced the manifold gasket, ( Me and 2 friends) but i don't remember touching anything that dealt with the brakes, but now when I apply the brakes, it sounds like there's an air leak coming from under the hood. Now I can stop just fine, but what the hell is this leak!! LOL any answers would greatly help -- thanx

there is a vaccuum leak somewhere. when you replaced the intake manifold gasket, you had to take off all the vaccuum lines, and im pretty sure that the brakes are vaccuum assist. so somewhere in that mess, there is a leak.

If you could hear it from inside the car it shouldn't be too hard to find. Have someone press on the brake for you while your checking under the hood. Worse comes to worse the pedal will get hard on you like if the car was off but should still be able to stop. I would check it right away though. It's no fun standing on the pedal trying to stop our tanks...

FASSTWOOD said a mouthfull about trying to stop a tank without power assist.:thepan:
I had a similar noise with my Dodge B250 Van/Wagon. It was a loose connection to the power brake booster. I knew what it was but put off fixing it, thinking I'd
Get around to it "next week."
Sure as hell the hose popped off completely in heavy traffic one Friday evening and it was like standing on the sidewalk with one foot trying to stop 6,000 pounds of Dodge truck and not rear-ending somebody. :alchi:
Take FASSTWOOD's advice and have somebody step on the brake while you listen under the hood for that noise. It might be a "grille saver."
