Well i just replaced my broken delco stereo. I didnt want to pay 150 to get it fixed so i paid to get my pioneer stereo in there.

Well once installed ( went to local audio shop). He said he rewired the speakers so they would go directly to the stereo. As i was driving i noticed that the tweeters weren't working(this sucks) and the factory speakers sounded distorted at a high volume. The factory system sounded way better.

i guess the speakers can't handle the power of the stereo.

after reading about the better speakers to replace them with i decided ill go with the infinity kappas.(in a month or so)
but my question is it possible for me in the mean time to wire the tweeters to the stereo so they can work?anyone know the color of the wires?

and also if i decide to replace those tweeters, can i? or should i place the tweets somewhere else?

thanks for any replys and reading this long post

2000 deville non-bose
im guessing the stereo is a basic 45x4 watts
i was told that its no longer using the factory amp that they are connected to the HU

1st rewire wasnt necessary if you would of bought the gmos-06 you could of kept the amp and saved the rewire cost.
2nd the factory speakers are 2 ohm i believe according to dadillac. aftermarket hus run on 4 ohms, they are probably distorting cuz the internal amp cant handel the speakers

reccomendations....
buy the gmos-06 from axcess and use that to keep your wheel controls fact amp and such and replace all speaks with infinity kappa 2 ohm speakers to keep the proper ohms. This will create a GREAT system.

oh ok
if i want highs in the speakers since i already have enough bass
would i better achieve this with 2 infinity kappas in the rear doors and
a component system up front?

also in the compnent system, does the tweeter and the speaker that along with the crossover use the same power and channel from the stereo? assuming no factory amp is used

yes they use the same power.
the speak wires are run into the crossover there the singal is broken down sending highs to the tweets and lows to the mids.
get the infinity kappa 6.37i i believe its called for the rears those are 3 ways and the 6 inch components for the front

By rewiring the speakers to the Pioneer HU, you do not run through the factory amp. The factory amp and speakers are 2 ohms. Your Pioneer I am sure is a 4 ohm unit. You are running 2 ohm speakers from a 4 ohm HU. You will have similar results with the Kappas, as they are 2 ohm also. I also suggest the GMOS-06, and have the speakers run from the factory amp. Hopefully the guy who did your rewire left the wires in the doors for you. Otherwise it can be a bitch to figure out how to wire them factory again.

I am by no means an expert. I am really an idiot when it comes to electronics. I learned alot when I installed my HU and speakers. For non-Bose set-ups, the GMOS-06 is a godsend. Here is the basics. Taks the aftermarket wiring harness, and splice it with the GMOS-06. You do this in the comfort of your home. Then attatch one connector to the 32 pin factory plug, and plug in the new HU. Aside from the other basic connections like antenna and such, you are done. Then if you want different speakers (I highly recommend them) you get the Kappa's, since they are 2 ohm. I did not find any other 2 ohm speakers out there, but there may be more. The factory amp is 2 ohms. It is my understanding that if you run a 4 ohm speaker (what most aftermarket speakers are) the power output will be cut in half. That is not a good thing. I also installed an Infinity Kappa Perfect sub in the rear deck. I run this straight from thr HU through an aftermarket amp. So my Hu is 4 ohms, my speakers are 2 ohms, and my sub is 4 ohms. Together it sounds great. I haven't heard a Bose system in the Caddy's, but I have heard it in my wifes Infiniti I35. To my ears, my set-up sounds better.

That is my story and I am sticking with it.

Oh one other thing. The GMOS-06 is meant for non-Bose cars, that have OnStar. I do not know if it will also work with cars that do not have OnStar.

it does it just alows for on star as well...
the reason the 2 ohms are louder than the 4 is the 4 ohm speaker have more resistance, more resistance less power wattage that goes to them.

hey guys i dont know about the gmos-06 i installed it in my non-bose non-onstar sls . and the steering wheel controls did not work. and the audio sucked. so i rewired mine to the headunit and got distortion with the dial half way. now i have a pioneer componet set up front and 2 pioneer subs in the back it and it sounds way better than stock.
