Nick,
Though I'm not in that lovely Emerald Isle, I'm fascinated by what your Fleetwood Brougham must evoke in those whom you pass along the way.
Would you care to share with us the expressions or comments your automobile has generated? Surely it is among the largest, if not THE largest passenger vehicle on Ireland's roads.
Also : what sort of service can you expect on your Cadillac or must you do it yourself?

Rick,
Hi - yes they do get quite a few stares and comments. I say 'they' beucase I have 2 of them! One - mine - is a '94 Fleetwood in white with grey leather interior and lace wheels and the other - my wife's - is a '93 Fleetwood Brougham in white with a blue cariage roof, blue lether interior, gold pack and the standard wheels.
Actually I prefer the drive of the '93 with the L05 engine as opposed to the '94 with the LT1 engine even though it has double the miles and the lower powered engine. It seems to have more torque, more pull off the line and is quieter and smoother. I've noted there is a separate conversation running on the '93 vs rest but maybe my '94 has a very highway friendly axle with 2.50 gears or something!
Most comments centre around fuel consumption, which is a subject that completely disinterests me - even at around $8 a gallon, and where do you get parts.
We recently went on holiday to west Cork in the '93 - about a 7 hour drive south west and got lots of smiles, waves and positve comments which was great. I did have to check it into a local garage when I noticed oil dripping down the filter and it turned out to be a bad seal between the housing that the oil filter bolts onto and the oil pump. So after a day on the ramp and only 85 euros [about 100 bucks] later the local inginuety of the local garage had taken it all apart, checked all the hoses for tightness, cleaned up the mounting faces and put it back together with a new gasket cut from gasket paper. I think they thoroughly enjoyed having something different and unusual in the shop and it made their week.
And yes, they are THE largest passenger cars on the road round here and it seems to be a bit odd to do the school run of only a mile each way 4 times a day but then they are als very practical family cars too with room on the rear seat for 3 child seats, a huge trunk and nice and comfortable and safe.
I'm looking for a set of OEM dark blue floor mats for the '93 if you know of anyone who has any or anywhere I can get any please.
Cheers and thanks for asking!

Nick,
I believe your floormat question is getting answered, readily, by the group.
Thanks for your most informative reply.
National Geographic Channel on the cable here ran a most interesting hour regarding the little known fact that Ireland is becoming an economic powerhouse of late. That, in turn, would translate into upgraded infrastructure, one might hope.
Thus, your Cadillacs might have a bit more "breathing room" on wider roads.
