Index of /nicothread/modernclassic-crownvic (http://q.spilky.com/nicothread/modernclassic-crownvic/) pimpin88 09-11-06, 09:21 AM How about a '96 9C1 dp102288 09-11-06, 09:36 AM I would love to get an all black Corwn Vic or Caprice, and drive around. I would get dark tints, and maybe stick some fake antennas on the trunk. Man it would be fun. Florian 09-11-06, 09:41 AM those cars suck. so do the friggin Caprices. Not because of what they are, but what they represent. Theyre nothing more than modern day tax collectors on wheels. friggin douchenozzles! And that kid is a DICK for driving around in one and getting all the "cop" reaction as a result. WHat a poser.
F Well, don't mealy-mouth around, Florian. Tell us how you REALLY feel! :histeric: pimpin88 09-11-06, 09:56 AM those cars suck. so do the friggin Caprices. Well Elvis, Id have to agree with Florian that the kid is a d!ck, look at him. lol.:histeric: I think somebody's playing a huge joke on all of us.
Their objective is to sell magazines. There are more people driving POS cars than tricked-out cars.
So to glorify crap like that with a nice 6-page spread probably moves just as many copies as a Car & Driver would with a new Charger on the cover. ShadowLvr400 09-11-06, 12:18 PM Florian's right, one look at that owner, and douchenozzle is one of the first words to mind. Dicksneeze is anouther. The CV is a lot nicer to drive than the Caprice 9C1, but not nearly as dependable or powerful. Stoneage_Caddy 09-11-06, 08:34 PM An overweight outdated turd from that traces its mechanicals back to the mid 70s....
Classic ? NO!
Modern ? NO!
Junk? YES!
Only decent car that came from the panther platform on which that THING was based was the Family Truckster from national lampoons family vacation. In the early 80s it had airbags , and could fly farther then the general lee .
If someones gonna do a spread on a big rear drive ford and label it modern classic , then lets do a MN12 T bird Supercoupe. Or Mark 8 An overweight outdated turd from that traces its mechanicals back to the mid 70s....
Yet, despite that, out drives and out handles the GM equivalent. Only thing it doesnt do is outlast. This is the only Crown Vic' I'd own. But really it's a Mercury Marauder. Does this count? They had me at 12.39 sec quarter mile. I seriously almost bought one of these.

Wait , the thing handles? We must not be talking about the same car here ...Just about every large american car with a soild rear axel ive driven doesnt handle , they just lean on the door handles to make turns ...maybe the corwn vic just had bigger door handles ....
Dont make me bust out the negtive points here .... :histeric: Florian 09-11-06, 09:00 PM Well, don't mealy-mouth around, Florian. Tell us how you REALLY feel! :histeric:
You know me, Elvis. No BS. (now how bout sendin up some Ribs (dry of course and some kick ass cornbread to wash it down>>>?) Ill send you a pile of perch.
F Stoneage_Caddy 09-11-06, 09:04 PM i say we have the next cadillac meet at elivsis house , ill bring the beer , elivs brings the smoked meat , well get drunk and kill armadillos and flroian will bring the hoes and teach us all the meaning of "accordian" I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-11-06, 09:05 PM Heck, people would move out of my way on the freeway when I was driving the Roadmaster. It doesn't even look like a cop car, sure it's big, but the Caprice has much different lines. AlBundy 09-11-06, 09:08 PM This is the only Crown Vic' I'd own. But really it's a Mercury Marauder. The Marauder is one badass Crown Vic. BTW wasn't it a Maurader that won the over 4000lb Shootout or whatever? Stoneage_Caddy 09-11-06, 09:09 PM They move out of my way too , but im coming at them close to 90 mph in the left lane flashing the highbeams .....too many basturds like to hang out in that left lane running 65 in a 70 admireing the corolla next to them becuse its just like theres
I HATE COROLLAS !!!!!! I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-11-06, 09:36 PM I was never one for Crown Vics. They're plenty boring to look at, and they aren't as quick or fun to drive as the similar Caprices. I came awfully close to buying a Crown Vic retired cop car, 1999 for $1500. It was too big for me to feel comfortable in, so I passed on it. Handling was very predictable and firm, overall performance was a bit better than the 9C1 Caprice. More steering feel too, though neither car behaved like a Miata or anything. brougham 09-11-06, 09:59 PM The newer ones look A LOT better then caprices do. And "Only thing it doesnt do is outlast."- there are lots of them around with over 700,000kms on them:bonkers: But yeah I agree that picture does look stupid and that red tape on the car doesn't look good either. I remember being really frustrated after I bought my brand new 1997 Acura RL--it looked EXACTLY like the Crown Vic at the time. I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-11-06, 10:22 PM Well those newer Crown Vic Sports are nice..dual exhaust 4.6, floor shifter, full console, 5 spoke wheels. Kinda like a slower Marauder. FWD Impala = Jesda Sad :( Stoneage_Caddy 09-12-06, 12:06 AM 5300 FWD Impala = Faster then boath the Vickie and 95 Impala
but ill admit , i did drive a marauder once , and really liked it ...till i remebred it was a ford .... FWD Impala = Jesda Sad :(
i couldnt agree more. the Impala should have never been turned into a fwd vehicle. its a shame really. the 1 and only reason i will not buy an Impala.

the only Crown Vic i would own is a Police Interceptor. better everything but you cant buy them that way. i have drove the one at the FD and it is a real good ride and handles supremely well for a vehicle its size. it would beat the hell out of any 9C1, im telling you. now the one pictured is a POS. plus its ugly as hell. I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-12-06, 08:27 PM 5300 FWD Impala = Faster then boath the Vickie and 95 Impala
That is true, but it's not a real Impala to me. It's FWD and unibody, plus, it doesn't have the massive preportions or presence of the older Impalas. Heck, it doesn't even look american. But that's not to say it isn't a nice car. It's very nicely built, nicely equipped, fast and pretty gas efficent! 96Fleetwood 09-12-06, 08:47 PM 1997??? 4.6 liter SOHC... uhhh, classic?
Ford had the 5.8 liter and 4.6 liter with blower idea tossed around for the Marauder and then decided to wimp out. I am disappointed with these cars. :want: I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-12-06, 09:07 PM Hmmm.... 5.8 Town Car????
Eat that LT1 Boys! :p Eric Kahn 09-12-06, 10:22 PM I have owned 5 ex-police cars
86 ford CV with the 5.0 HO
84 Impala 9C1, yes it was an impala
87 CV with the 5.8, slower than the 86 due to the crappy variable venturi carb instead of mutli port FI
81 dodge diplomat, handled great but no very fast, built like a tank
94 caprice 9c1 with the LT1 v8, fastest of the lot, the 9c1 package cars were faster than the Imapala SS's due to a higher rear end ratio
wish I had never sold the 94 but I never could get rid of the drive line vibration Florian 09-12-06, 11:15 PM i say we have the next cadillac meet at elivsis house , ill bring the beer , elivs brings the smoked meat , well get drunk and kill armadillos and flroian will bring the hoes and teach us all the meaning of "accordian"
