Great stuff!!

Let's see:

The Cats they built in 1996 were all 1997 model year cars.

And I never have been able to locate a 2001 Cat actually BUILT in 2001. They ALL were built in 2000.

I guess Madison Avenue types just rule the world!:)

Here see the number of Cats built in each year:

1996 1,676

1997 25,411

1998 25,333

1999 15,068

2000 17,290

This is not by model year. It is by calendar year.

We ordered in Oct 1996 and took possesion of our '97 on November 13, 1996. Might have been one of the first:) . When we bought, the dealer had none in the showroom.

Very cool and very avant garde!

I was taken totally by surprise by the upward trend in the production numbers as the end approached. That's why I posted the numbers.

Wrongly I guess, I had supposed service problems with the '97 and '98 Cateras had brought the marque first to its knees, and finally to its demise.

Now am thinking the end might have been prompted as much by pressing need to modernize the Ruesselsheim factory as anything else. All Cats were manufactured there.
