Some times when I turn ign key on I hear a loud unusual clicking sound out front. Happens intermittently.

1994 CAD CONCOURS 4.6L N*

Raise hood and sound seems to emanate from throttle body internally. Then when engine is started it runs perfectly. What is this clicking sound all about?
Is something about get worse?

If some knows please advise.

regards

Does the gas pedal jump? Might be the ISC motor.

i just bought a 94 concours with 109K miles. it's an awesome car but i am having the same exact problem. i looked under the hood when i turned the ign on and the accelerator was cliking back in forth. i would like to know more about this problem before it gets worse. my gas pedal jumps by the way as it ticks.

Your ISC (Idle Speed Control) motor is failing. R & R it. Do a search for the adjustment proceedure after the instalation.

i think i fixed it today. i took the air duct off the throttle body, cleaned the carb plate/linkage and i went into the diagnostics and went to pcm override on code ps13 and it doesnt click anymore. did i do the right procedure or did i forget something?

Yes, I think so. If the ISC motor does not open the throttle a bit, the engine will not start. Try starting it with the pedal depressed just a bit. If it starts, that is likely your problem.
