Mad'lac 01-13-03, 05:51 PM Maybe now would be a perfect time to put in a Optima battery. I heard that even if they crack they don't leak. Might be nice to have that in the trunk. BeelzeBob 01-13-03, 10:43 PM Good idea with that Optima.. What IS the weight ratio on these cars? I mean from front to back? DeVillish 01-13-03, 11:36 PM thats a good question, one that i really wana know. And how muc do those optima batteries go for? Scrapyard 01-21-03, 12:06 AM Optima, roughly $100. Educated guess 57/43 weight bias. Word of advise. Make sure the wire runing off the altanator to the positive post of the battery is at least 10 gaw wire. I had a charging problem with my 85 FW when I did that mod. If you buy the kit from Jegs you should be ok. I built mine from scratch so I had problems. Live and learn I guess. Andrew60SP 01-21-03, 03:15 AM A search turned up the following: current model STS: 62/38 DTS: 61/39. CTS: 52/48 '67 Eldorado: 58/42 I would imagine most FWD Caddy's being at least 60/40. Katshot 01-21-03, 07:53 AM Hey Shaun, Good to see you here ;) The Optima is a great battery for specific applications. Also remember that the Optima can be mounted in any orientation (sideways, on-end, etc.). Also, cable routing is CRITICAL for safety as well as durability. | |
