I wonder if those are "real" figures though?

How do you take out 300lbs from a car like ours without removing significant amounts of insulation? Maybe they went the way of Jaguar and started making crumple zones out of aluminium... ?

No, I believe it is a typo - I'm just poking fun.

If I'm not mistaken, the correct weight advertised previously was 3890 lbs (tested usually around 4070 lbs).

Had they actually shaved over 10% of the weight off, I think we'd be hearing a lot of drums beat.

The weight savings are from a revised differential housing and rear suspension set up. The article quotes recycled paper being used to stiffen the housing.
