Haven't made it there yet, but based on where I am now looks like about 6k.

I drive mine almost all highway miles. If I let it go to when the computer says to change it would be 12000 miles. I change my oil @ 5000 no matter what.

I change at about 4k here ... usage meter reads about 40-50% at that point.

Did I say I love this car? :)

I was told in school that the computer starts at 15,000 and takes away based on your driving habits and engine operating parameters.
I never paid much attention to what mine says, when I change it.

I usually wait unti it's down in the 20-30% range which seems to me like about 6,000 miles?
... of course my car is not a V, however it's all based on the same algorithm that GM uses to compute oil life.

:yeah: I think it's around 30% by that point.

I though the computer measured the pressure drop across the filter.

Had mine changed yesterday at 7,399 miles since last changed in March, Oil Life Remaining 6%.

My oil life goes down by about 3% at each fillup. Curious thing is that it only goes down by about 2% in my Corvette (LS1). I always use the Oil Life as a guide and never let it get down to 0%. I will change it early if I am going on a long trip and figure that the oil life would get down to 0% on the trip. If I am going to a track day(s) I will change it at anything below 20%.\

I don't believe oil pressure is a factor in oil life calculation.
I know the computer monitors ambient temps, engine temp, run time and how you are driving. Short trips, highway driving, whatever.

It's generic software they use in all the PCMs of vehicles that have this feature so it's doubtful they even use things like oil temperature.
Supposedly they are pretty proud of this software.

Thanks for clearing up my misconception.

I figured it was more of an emperical measure instead of an extrapolation from other variables.

I believe in the manual is says that once you hit 0% you should change your oil within 600 miles

Where should I have it done and what kind of oil are you guys using. Time to take her in for the first oil change since I got it. Thanks.

I'm using what the oil cap says (or the 710 cap, if you're blonde), Mobile1 5W-30. I have a local Chevy dealer I know do it and lube the links on the Hotchkis sway bars.
