Anyone know what this is and how hard it is to fix it?

sts or etc? you sell your old sts yet juz curious?

it's the etc. Haven't sold the old sts yet - gonna take all the good parts off of it first.

Back on point: I think it may have something to do with the vacuum lines - I also have the problem where the air switches to the floor vents when I accelerate.

Try playing with your climate controls too see if it's a HVAC door opening or something.

It may have something to do with the heater core. I just replaced the thermostat a few weeks ago, and I did not put the little purge hole at the twelve-o-clock position. I wonder if this could cause it?

does your sts have chrome wheels? If it does maybe we can strike a deal on the center caps.

Need more info. Does this usually happen when you are driving out of the Taco Bell parking lot after dining there?

No, but come to think about it - under these circumstances I hear a very similar but much louder noise from the driver's seat cushion.
