Hi,
Flashers:
My 96 ETC turn signals are not flashing on either side front or back. They will light up without flashing and stay lit until I cancel the signal at the switch. The brake lights DO flash if I engage the Hazard light switch. Is there a flasher unit that controls all of the turn signals that I may need to replace? If so, where is it located?

Fan:
About a month ago my fan stopped working. The AC condenser still seems to do it's job, just no fan (even when AC is off). I know that the owners manual indicates there is a "Maxi-Fuse" that controls the fan and that it should be serviced by a dealer. I wonder if that could be the problem? Also, do I have to get the dealer involved or is that just Cadillac's way of getting more bucks out of me. Is that something that a shade-tree mechanic like myself can deal with?
Thanks,
Tim

There is a seperate flasher for the turn signals as well as the 4-ways. They are usually under the dash on one side or the other of the steering column.

Check the connector on the blower motor. They have been known to burn. If that is good, a failed blower is likely and somewhat common. The replacement blowers have been redisigned to be more reliable. They were being taken out by the spark plug wire RFI (?), especially if the wires were routed to close to the blower motors.

Thanks Ranger. You were correct about the flashers. A trip to AutoZone and $10 later, I'm back in business.
Now I just have to tackle that blower motor. First step... Finding it! Chilton's manual left me a little disappointed on that.

It protrudes from the engine side of the firewall, in the middle, just below your wipers. It has a bunch of wires (i think in a harness) coming out of it. It's about 7 or 8 inches in diameter. Try just taking the strut bar off to gain access - this worked on my 96 sts w/ a little manipulation of the blower.

Chiltons is OK to line a bird cage, but not much else. A FSM by Helm Inc. is the only way to go. Check the Tech Tips section or maybe the Deville section for an explanation on R & R'ing the blower. The one I am thinking about was for a '96 or '97 Deville, but the proceedure should be similar and may provide some tips.
