Hi, because I am very dissatisfied with kickdown on my 98 STS (delay is even two seconds before gearbox undershifts), I would like to ask if it is possible to determine which version my gearbox firmware actually has and if firmware gearbox upgrade is possible (with Tech2 and apropriate software? dunno).

Please note I cannot ask at the dealership first because they do not support my old car.

This is just a wild guess but if you go into the On Board Diagnostics mode, after it gives you codes you can get ROM ID's I wonder if that would tell us?

I tried to get the ROM ID for PCM, but I got message it is unsupported (and NO PCM CODES when tried to get if anything is wrong).
