Not anymore...

Only up to 2005 did it have the LS6 C5 Z06 motor. The LS2 in the 2006 V is the base Corvette motor.

I'd love to see what the V can do with an LS7. :worship:

an ls7 would be awsome...nothing less. if they do incorporate the ls7 in the v i will trade my sts-v for one. Now that will be one hot car.

My dealer tells me the 2008 V will be powered by the stsv supercharged northstar.

I was personally talking about you, not like I was trying to start anything, just have fun. It says you've been here lurking since Jan, and having a GTO one would think you are already a serious car dude. Was just trying to have fun, and got shut down....

See, the funny thing is Florian was correct but you missed it. He was referencing his car which is an 04. The 04 absolutely had the Z06 engine in it.

Now don't you feel silly?

Back on topic. Regarding the 07 V. Get it now, or you will be waiting close to 2 years to get the redesigned CTS. We are not sure yet what engine the next get V will get. Chances are it will be either the LS7 or a blow Northstar similar to the STS-V.

I have an 05' with the LS6. The ONLY year they made te stealth gray with the LS6. And Wizzle, greatphotos of your pops V. Very artistic.

Hot Rod Mag just showed some spy photos in this month's mag showing cover up CTS with big brakes and a roll cage.

If you have access to the GMS code book you can order the V with LS7.

Negative. New CTS is coming out in 2007 as a 2008 model year. No V the first year.

Speculation. Possibly going to have the S/C northstar like the STS-V. Cadillac might be going to a more refined and less "wrenchable" motor so you crazy V owners won't have nearly as many toys to play with. And possibly fewer destroyed diff's.

Not true. requires more than just a code.. Completely different PCM architecture....:thepan:

As much fun as an LS-7 CTS might be, will Cadillac be willing to let the "V" price move upwards to cover that hand-built motor, especially as the 300C/Charger SRT-8s seem to be a better performance bargain right now? I don't think so. Same with the supercharged Northstar engine - too pricey for the CTS-V.

According to the Cadillac comercial , ALL V series Cadillac motors are hand built.

The rear ends however are assembled by circus monkeys.

It will have the LS7 if GM can come up with a rear end and Transmission that will handle it, so I would not count on 505hp. I haven't been here in a while, but it was rumored and reported 06 V was supposed to get it, and I see now we are up to 09.

I have a friend who works for GM. I asked him and he said no LS7 for the V. It's too expensive and will price the car right out of the market. It will likely be the new LS3 6.2L (the new Camaro engine) or LS9 which is a supercharged LS3 but there's nothing he can tell me about that yet because it's coming a year after the LS3 makes it's debut. Why believe him? Because everything else he's told me has been true so far and I have no reason to doubt his knowledge in these matters.

i thought it was too good to be true having an ls7 in a v. however, the ls2 v's are still great running cars. is the ls3 the same or a version of the escalade 6.2?

Yes, definately too good to be true. The LS7s are hand built. There's no way they're going into the V unless we want to pay over 70K for them. No thanks! Probably the same 6.2 architecture but obviously the cam, exhaust, intake, programming, etc. will probably be quite different. They're also going to have the displacement on demand feature and my guess...will be approaching the 450hp level.
