i am ordering a new ext this week and had awd question. read the previous posts, and i'm not satisfied with answers, so...

i will be driving on beach in deep sand, and plan on ordering my ext with 18 chrome wheels and tires. does anyone have experience in this combo in the sand? i know to lower the air pressure, but still a little unsure.

i'm sticking with the 18's because i also have an hour and half commute to work and wear out tires.

the only other thing i use the ext for is to pull boat.

thanks.

Get yourself a good set of traction tires like Bridgestone Revo's, they are great on the highway too. Keep your chrome wheels waxed, a synthetic wax will last the longest, and keep your wheels clean, this will help, although the stock wheels have what seems to be one "coat" of chrome, most of the aftermarket wheels are 2-3 applications of chrome.

I drive thru 2 - 3 feet of snow in the winter in upstate NY, and thru deep mud at construction sites, and I never had a problem. :)

On my last '03 Escalade I had lowered with 22's. I took it out to the desert a couple of times and drove it around the dunes to check out the sand drags. Nothing too steep, and I didn't have any problems whatsoever. Got a lot of strange looks from the buggy's though. I never got into any real deep stuff, but have alot of experience from my last 4x4 Tahoe. If you air out your 18's and keep your speed up, and you don't have real long stretches of the deep stuff, you should be fine.

Good luck......PB
