To some of you please forgive this post but my wife does not like the muffler "growl" on my 07 esv. To eliminate all I would need to do would be to replace the muffler with a "standard" one which would run quiet??? Would the dealer do that? I am a mechanical novice, hence the question. It seems as though all the growl comes out of the rear, not the engine, correct? My son bought a special air cleaner which makes a similiar growl. He and the other kids like the noise, though. But if mama ain't happy........

Thanks much

If you try to quiet the muffler you will most likely cut your horsepower substantially.

If mama aint happy?.......tough for mama...I'm sure your girlfriend digs it ...ehh? ESCALADE = MANS TRUCK. Get her a Toyota prius or somthing if she doesn't like it.

If it's stock, she's gonna have to get used to it. Anything quieter will affect performace, badly.

You have a 400 plus hp truck, it's going to make some noise, sure you could put a different muffler on, but as said you will be cutting power, and maybe gas mileage too. I find my 07' to be on the quite side, it does make more noise than my 03' did stock, but it does have nore power too. I have a new system that I hope to install in the next week or two. :)

Are you sure your son didn't purchase an air intake? That could be the part making the noise. It would be louder than the stock air intake. If you open the hood, you can check yourself. I believe it is on the left and if it is aftermarket it would say something like Volant, AEM, etc.

Thanks.

Go buy her a quiet Tahoe and keep the Escalade for yourself!

Like everyone said before me, you will be losing horsepower and MPG if you try to quite it.

Please don’t castrate your Escalade!! :)
