Okay guys. I have an '02 lade that is on 24s right now.

My birthday is coming up this October, and my wife is telling me to think of something I really really want.

Anyways, I just got two monitors installed on my two headrests, but currently it is not working yet, because I am still trying to save up for a DVD/Navigation system for up front in order to run those two monitors.

Also, another thing is, I was thinking about lowering my lade 2/3" too, but just dont have that money to do this all at once!

So my question is:

1. If you were me, would you lower the lade or get the DVD/Navigation system up front? (Which would you prefer to get first)

2. If I was to lower the lade 2/3", in the winter, I was planning to put my stock 17s back on. Can that cause any kind of damage to my truck??

Thanks for your input guys.

Oh, and here is the pic of my lade. Its outdated, and the gold emblems are now Chrome!
Notice the huge wheel gap! Yikes!

get the DVD nav. Youve got a dollar waitin on a dime! :) Get the Nav so you can get your electronics up and running. You can always lower it later.

Def grab the DVD/Navigation or up front.. lowering the lade is nice and all but no matter what anyone says the ride goes a little.. you already have the 24's that make the truck look classy.. i would def grab the DVD/Nav up front.. by doing this you also open up the doors for various other easy installs like direct ipod hookup, DVD player, Nav, better sound quality, etc... plus when you weigh out the drop to dvd which will give you more use.. i mean to me it would be a more meaningful gift.. you will get use out of it everyday... thats just my take..

I asked my wife which one, and she said DVD/Nav too and do the lowering later, because she said the lade looks good as it is, and wont make that much of a difference when lowered.

I mean, i know it makes a "difference" lowered, but "not" much, and it can be hold off til' later.

As for my other question:

If I lower it 2/3", can I still drive with my stock 17s???

If you use the McGaughys deluxe kit you WILL need to mod some pieces in order for the stockers to work. Search the forums and you will see a few threads discussing this. Mostly the earlier threads when the deluxe kit first came out and people were figuring out how to install them. If you do go with the deluxe the ride quality will be virtually the same unless you're a f1 driver and really sensitive to every vibration of the road. Pricing wise, a drop will cost you $600-800...dvd/nav (a reputable one anyways) will cast $1500-2000 both of these including install. You have to ask yourself, do you want looks or functionality?

Not a bad idea.

For those who replied, thanks for your inputs. It really helps a lot, and i'll put this into my thoughts for a while before my bday, and see which one I have decided to go first and will let you know.

Definately go with the Navi first. My suggestion is Eclipse.

Another one for navigation. Also, about the outdated picture, I hope you tinted the front windows as well since that picture. Haha! Great looking Escalade. The lowering kit can definitely come later.

Thanks.

No offense but the only thing you should be asking your wife is wheather it's ok if you knock on her back door. Not if you can do one thing or another to your beloved truck. You tell her that you're getting your nav/dvd installed while the truck is a the shop getting lowered and the big brake kit installed to boot!!!! ASK???? shheees... next thing you know they'll want to vote...or run for office...

lol. You see, she's my wife. If she's a girlfriend, then heck yeah, but a "wife", its a different story. Trust me.

She loves me. I just wanted her opinion as well.

As for tinting, I am having that done soon. Already got that planned out.

Haha! I came across that one too! I thought it looked awesome. I don't remember what site I found it on, but I believe it was Autotrader. It is a great looking Escalade.

Thanks.

I found that pic in craigslist.

Anyways, I have another question to ask you guys...

I do want in indash dvd/navigation, but for those who have the "flip out" monitors where the stock headunit is, when flipping out and up, does it hit the gear shifter? (like do you have to put the gear in park or drive, in order for the monitor to flip out and up??)

Obviously I posted a reply in here, because I can act out among all of you and suffer no consequences. If my wife even got the slightest notion of my sexist rants, she would cut it off with a butchers knife then have my truck crushed with me in it.....

Haha! :histeric: I guess you are going with the motto "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it".

Thanks.

If you get the flip out, it'll get stuck on your gear handle. I had this problem with the Avic N1. So i kept my stock navi and put the flip down where the cd changer was. In your case I suggest the eclipse double din. Looks stock and no flipping.
