I have a problem with my '99 Escalade, it has happened twice before but after a wait of a day or two everything would be fine.
When I turn the key to the first position I get all the normal start-up sounds but when try to start it, it sounds like it wants to start but it won't turn over.
I'm not a very gifted mechanical person, if turns out to be the fuel pump I won't be dropping the tank, but I can do a lot if given the right direction. So what do you gurus think? Solenoid, control module, fuel filter, fuel pump, coil pack (whatever the hell that is), small gnomes, what?

If it wont turn over I'd look at the starter and battery.
85,000 miles.
I am going to check the electricals today, but I have a feeling that isn't it.
hi
the fuel pump and other things you mentioned has nothing to do with the car turning over.
it is something electrial.
hope you find it harold.:worship:
I had problems starting mine a couple of weeks ago and after going and getting a new battery which did not help I crawled under behind the passenger front tire and found the starter (about the size of a rolled up newpaper) along the passenger side of the drive train and was about to remove the starter and get a new one but noticed the cable connections on the top front end of the starter looked corroded so I pulled on them and they were loose. Cranked the nut down a little tighter and asked my friend to turn it over... started right up and haven't had a problem since.
I have 113k on mine and have beat the crap out of it on the beachfront in the salt & surf.
Try that before going and buying any parts.

I had the same problem with my 2000. Same solution fixed it.
