I've got a 1999 STS and on the right side of the steering wheel I can control the radio stations & volume, on the left the old OnStar system can be controlled.

My question is....I have a left control part that will control the heating/air conditioning, but I don't know how to take the original part out & put the new heating & air part in. Can anyone help me with this?

It looks as though the piece should just pop out but it doesn't appear to be that easy. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you ever resolve this issue. To remove the old switch you need to remove the Air bag in the center of the steering wheel and then then the stwiches are held in by a few screws and an electrical plug. I would recommend disconnecting the battery before removing the air bag. My switch no longer works and I am not sure how to test or if I should just take a chance and replace. Where did you find replacement switch and how much did it cost, if you remember?
