| View Full Version : just ordered me some wheels! 18x8 and will run 245/40 rubber >>> wamanning 08-09-06, 02:19 PM TSW Apex. sample foto below. should be here next week. http://brown-snout.com/automotive/catera/wheels/wallys_wheels.jpg aldi 08-10-06, 05:15 AM The 245/40 seem a bit too wide for a 8x18. A 225/40 or 235/40 would fit better. Or use 9x18 rims. Even my 235/40 look not that good on a 8x18. wamanning 08-10-06, 09:23 AM The 245/40 seem a bit too wide for a 8x18. IMO most people run too small rubber these days. however, your 235s actually look pretty good on 18x8 rims. i based my sizing on these points: - OEM sport wheels are 17x7.5 and run 235 width rubber. - if i'm moving up to 18x8 it makes sense to increase to 245 width rubber to keep things more-or-less in sync. also, look at the pic of my 18x8 wheels fitted to the black car. he's running 225 rubber and there's no sidewall to protect the tire. i live in detroit, home of rough winters and rougher roads...so i need a good bit of rubber to protect the rim. and here's the rubber i selected - Nexen N3000: http://www.stormingwheeldeals.com/Images/Auctions/Nexen_N3000.jpg netager 08-12-06, 10:56 PM I like the rims, but IMO Catera deserves deep dish rims, staggered, smth classic BBS design maybe? Smth that will look good on BMW or MB ;o) But not too many rims with right bolt pattern out there... What kind of brand the tires are? Never heard about them... Did I miss something? | |
