Anyone know the cost of extending the factory warranty to 72 months. Looking at extending it to something like 72months/ 60,000 miles if possible. My warranty's still good for another year, but i like to think ahead.

yup mine was $1k and it covers me till 100,000 miles. well worth it considering i had alot of things addressed at the dealership about the car and my cars' about to hit the 40k mark(literally it's like 50 miles from hittin 40k). not only that the caddy has this ongoing problem about the differential (in which i too had to get mine replaced i didnt mention or notice anything the service guy straight up told me they were going to replace it since the cts is well known to have differential probs). there are people here who have had already gotten their diff replaced on many occasions without their cars hitting 40k imagine down the line... i think it's worth it. 1k more added ONCE to the total car payment to me is alot better than 1k every now and then to get car fixed for any problems.

You didn't get your car at CITY Cadillac right? I know they would not have made such a generous offer as to replace the differential for no reason.

I buy my warrantys from Fitchner Chevrolet in Montana. I live in TX but you can buy warranties from any GM dealer. I am a member of the Corvetteforum.com and Fitchner Chev is a supporting vendor. Their prices have been cheaper than the dealers I buy my cars from. I have not bought an x-warranty for the CTS but I will see if they can give me prices on them. I'm sure any GM dealer can sell a GMPP warranty for any GM make vehicle. :) If you extend it you need to make sure there is still 3 MONTHS & 3,000 MILES LEFT on the warranty in order to extend it.

One other thing, GM increases the prices on the Ext Warranties every October 1. So if you buy one do it before Oct. 1 :)

Yep that and the price will go up to.

Keep in mind the price will increase with mileage as well....

Talk it out with Dubbed Stealth, he'll give you a fair quote! The milage is added to the end of your current warranty, so you aren't gaining anything but making it cost more to get it eventually.

My car had only 3600 miles so the certified warranty wasn't that big a deal $$.

Check the prices at www.gmoutlet.com (http://www.gmoutlet.com/). My contact guy was Allen Black. He saved me 50% from my local dealer.

I don't usually buy the extended warranty. Sounds like you guys pretty much agree it is the way to go?

Extended warranties are a gamble. You think your future repair bills will exceed the cost of the warranty and the warranty writer thinks that the cost of the warranty is more than the cost of the repairs.

Who will win? Nobody knows. Hopefully you!

All depends, if you are keeping the car or not? Having bumper to bumper for 100K in a car like this is cheap insurance. What if the nav goes? Stabilitrac, ABS, rear diff, etc. ANY of those fixes would make up for the up front expense first time.

I wouldn't get any of these 3rd party warranties, go with GM, Dubbed Stealth can hook you up and probably give you your best deal.

I hear a lot of talk about the diff. being a problem, but isn't that covered in a longer warranty than the 50k?

NO, the only thing that may be covered longer, and it depends on what state you live in is emissions equipment warranty may be longer, but the rear diff warranty ends at 50K.

UNLESS GM has done something recently to extend the warranty on this part that I haven't hear about?
