The classic tunes still rock when Carroll Shelby grooves the melody and Ford's SVT garage band hammers out the rhythm. The final product has a beat that even Dodge and Chevy fans can't help but tap their feet to. Read the review at Automobile Magazine online.

As a college kid back in the '60s who admired but couldn't afford one of the original Shelby Mustangs, I want one of these "second childhood" ones. But I am content to wait until prices settle down to MSRP instead of ca. $20K dealer markups.

It's also fun to look at:

The only problem with these Eleanor cars is telling your insurance company you'd like to insure a 1967 Mustang for $150K or so ... :histeric:

I'm sorry but all the magazine tests that I've seen so far have left me uninspired. The quarter mile times come in just a shade quicker than my stock SRT-8 and not as fast as the Corvette target that Ford claimed they were shooting for. I'm not talking about Z06, I'm just comparing C6. I'm sorry but even at sticker price I'm not interested in the Shelby, and at the dealer marked up pricing it becomes even less compelling. Good luck blue oval boys!

I have a feeling that they will be quite a bit faster once owners get some seat time in them. I mean the mag's also said that the 03-04 Cobra's were only good for 13.0-13.2 and guys have hit 12.4 in stock trim. I bet that the GT500 could get into the 11's or be breathing right on it

Great Mustang if it run mid 12's, just not the Shelby I expected. I expected faster given the lofty HP quotes I heard prior to the release. And I know they are just a pulley change away from another 75 ponies. The handling didn't sound to hot either, but again this is magazine heresay. A car is worth whatever someone's willing to pay and in the end every Shelby will find a home and probably $10K-$15K above sticker.

And with the weight almost even with the V but with a deplorable F/R ratio, it's handling isn't in the same league. When I saw the lap times at Grattan between the C6 and Shelby, I was surprised. Even if that car was green, my V with coilovers and sways and your SRT-8 with coilovers are going to outperform these things on the road course.
