Its %20 all the way around. mikeay 08-03-06, 09:38 PM Tint is 30, i'd get pulled over all the time with 20's. 30 is the legal limit here. 01SLS01 08-03-06, 10:28 PM http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2265326 Check out my STS with some tint. Its %20 all the way around. what is the legal limit where you live, and do you ever get pulled over because of the tint?? CaddyCrisis 08-03-06, 10:33 PM what is the legal limit where you live, and do you ever get pulled over because of the tint?? %35 on the front 2 windows and %20 on the back windows. Nebraska is weird with their laws.Ive never got pulled over cuz the local cops even have %20 all the way around so I don't think they care so much. Ive seen a few cars that have like %5 which is like spray painting your windows black and the cops never do anything. chazglenn3 08-04-06, 08:50 AM I'm at work right now, but will post a picture tonight. My car has the metallic tint and it looks great and works even better than it looks as far as reducing the temps in the car. I'm sure it's not legal here in WA, but I haven't been bothered by the police thus far. EcSTSatic 08-04-06, 08:58 AM I had it on my TurboCoupe. May do it someday to the STS. Whatever tint level you decide on, don't skimp on materials! These purple shades you see are cheap films. I recommend that you have it done professionaly. The result is a nicer look and no bubbles. mikeay 08-04-06, 09:45 AM Here are some more pictures... http://mikeay.webhop.org/96sts boricuacaddy 08-04-06, 10:47 AM my tints look dark, I ask for medium tints. There was a car in the shop when I took mine in and it had medium, which didn't look dark but when he did mine it looked much darker. The guy at the shop said it is because my car is all black inside and out. I like it though, makes my car look mean. David 1997seville 08-04-06, 10:52 AM Mayland has some stupid tint laws. 80% is the darkest you can have on a car on any window, there's not even a point in getting that. And that is total including factory tint. If I put 80% on my windows, it would be too dark. Now if you have a truck or a SUV, you can go as dark as you want on the back windows. When I moved here, I had to take all the tint off before it would pass state inpection. Really sucks. chazglenn3 08-04-06, 09:28 PM Okay...here are some quick photos of my car. I apologize for not getting a chance to wash it today. CaddyCrisis 08-04-06, 10:18 PM Okay...here are some quick photos of my car. AWESOME!! chazglenn3 08-04-06, 11:27 PM WOW I love the look of your caddy man!! The tint, the color of the car, and the rims go together just perfectly. AWESOME!! Thanks! The tint really keeps the all black interior much cooler. gary88 08-05-06, 11:17 AM Just wondering, what's the usual price for getting tint? I'm looking to get it done soon, and I still have to decide on a %. here in the middle of nebraska it can range fom 170 to about 250 on a 4 door car, and thats with a lifetime warranty on it. All you gotta do is shop around for the best price in your town. 01SLS01 08-05-06, 02:50 PM Okay...here are some quick photos of my car. I apologize for not getting a chance to wash it today. hey man that looks pretty sharp, i didnt think i would like that metallic tint, so i never really looked into it, but that looks pretty good, maybe it would look good on my pearl white car with some chrome pillars maybe??, what percent is that if there is any??? thank you , Ryan chazglenn3 08-05-06, 04:19 PM Thanks! I'm have no idea what percent of light transmission it allows. I can see okay at night, so I would guess that it is 20%. It is not as dark as the 5% stuff for sure. I had that on a '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe back in the day, and backed right into a black pickup parked behind my garage...never even saw it! :bang2: iametarq 08-05-06, 08:00 PM Do you guys with tint find it harder to backup at night because it's harder to see out the back window, or is it not really an issue? chazglenn3 08-05-06, 08:23 PM With the exception of the incident mentioned in my earlier post, I don't have too much trouble at night. My rear view mirror still dims somewhat, so the light is getting through. Odin8 08-06-06, 12:02 AM I have 18% on mine all the way around and I love it. It just makes the car look mean, especially when it's dark out. Protects the interior too, everything stays markedly cooler now then when I had no tint. As for seeing at night, it's not that bad...it definately takes a little to get used to, but as long as you're relatively aware of your surroundings and a capable driver, you should be all set. Seeing out the back isn't bad, it took me a little more to get used to seeing my side mirrors at night, and I'll even roll down my windows sometimes to see them better. Legal limit here in MA is 35%, and I haven't been bothered yet. If you don't drive like an ass, or attract cops attention with a stereo or something, you'll usually be left alone. I'll try to get some pictures up soon. 01SLS01 08-06-06, 08:03 AM yea man if you can please try to get some pics up soon, i would like to see what it looks like , especially since ur from mas and u dont get bothered from the cops, in my old mustang i had 5 % tint, and i backed up into a black civic, didnt even know it was there, it actually scared the shit outta me cause i though i might have hit a person or something, haha,, i cant make up my mind if i want the metallic tint , or really really dark tint, what do you guys think would look better on a pearl white seville?????,, with some chrome pillars?? Thank you Thank you Thank you CaddyCrisis 08-06-06, 12:25 PM yea man if you can please try to get some pics up soon, i would like to see what it looks like , especially since ur from mas and u dont get bothered from the cops, in my old mustang i had 5 % tint, and i backed up into a black civic, didnt even know it was there, it actually scared the shit outta me cause i though i might have hit a person or something, haha,, i cant make up my mind if i want the metallic tint , or really really dark tint, what do you guys think would look better on a pearl white seville?????,, with some chrome pillars?? Thank you Thank you Thank you IMO I think the dark tint would look best with the pear white. iametarq 08-06-06, 10:19 PM Where I live the cops only pull you over for being loud. I dont think they care about how tinted your windows are. :) EcSTSatic 08-07-06, 08:06 AM Do you guys with tint find it harder to backup at night because it's harder to see out the back window, or is it not really an issue? If you are familiar with the spot you are backing up on, it just takes time to get used to less lighting. When I'm in a spot that's new, I still feel more comfortable with the windows down so that the mirrors are brighter. It's too bad they can't come up with cost effective "photo-grey" glass. | |
