I previously owned a '96 STS and had the nylon fuel rail replaced with the stainless steel rail under the recall. Yesterday, I decided to change my fuel pressure regulator on my '99 STS due to some difficult warm starts, and lo and behold, I find a nylon fuel rail. Does anyone know what is different between the '96 rail and the '99 rail that would make this one okay, but not the '96 one???

I think they used a different material to make the '98+ fuel rails.

personally, I think they're just not old enough to spring leaks. The ethanol and fuel additives haven't enbrittled them yet, so there aren't any fire reports for those years yet. Or at least not enough to issue a recall.
