Hi, I recently aquired a 1992 Eldorado. I'm used to driving manual transmission, and when I parked it on my driveway, which is a slope, I put the parking brake on, by habbit. I figured it was one of those that when you push it down all the way, it would spring backup, but it didnt, it went to the floor, and stayed there, locked. It's stuck in the driveway blocking cars, and I can't figure out how to get it up. Is there a release somewhere that I'm missing?
Not sure if it's the same on a '92 eldorado, but to release the parking brake on my car all you do is start it up and press the brake. It should pop right back up.

This has already been discussed. The brake is designed to release automatically when the shifter is moved out of Park. If that feature isn't working there is a release handle under the dash. I recommend looking under there with a flashlight so you understand it.
It's a black handle attached to the ebrake assembly that's pretty discrete. MAKE SURE YOU OR YOUR HEAD ARE NOT IN THE WAY WHEN YOU PULL THIS.
The pedal returns with great force. And get the auto release fixed or this will drive you nuts.
Once you follow Codewises advice and get it released, check the vacuum diaphram on the parking brake assembly. That is likely the cause of it not working. It should have vaccum supplied to the hose when in gear and the diaphram should hold vacuum. It is on the HVAC circuit so if it does not have or hold vacuum, I'd venture a guess that you are also having air delivery mode problems with the HVAC. Probably stuck in defrost mode.
