Well, after a little over two months of ownership, the V was by this lovely Atlanta traffic. A truck in front of me kicked up a piece of wood that looked about 12" square and landed flat on my hood.

I'm wondering what your suggestions may be for this. I'm guessing it's too much to be polished out. Has anyone tried one of those paintless scratch & dent removal places? Any other recommendations???

Technically yes, but most often than not the truck gets away while you stop to clean the crap out of your pants. A large piece of anything bouncing down the road in front of you is scary as hell.

The pics aren't clear enough with detail to ascertain how deep the scratches go. If you can see primer, you're pooched as far as trying to buff it out. Even if you don't see primer, if enough of the clearcoat has been removed, assuming you COULD buff it out, you'd be left with replacing that clearcoat layer.

VERDICT: Repair and repaint.

Sorry, Man.

The guy in front of me didn't drop it, he just ran over it and sent it flying. Otherwise I would have gone after him.

Yeah, between the reflection on the hood and my crappy camera it was hard to get a picture showing the depth of the scratches. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet on this one.

Unfortunately, that looks like a repaint. But at least you don't have to worry about matching. Or you can get a cowl hood for the V.

Dang. :( Looks like it's through the color coat. You're best bet is to have it repainted... unless you feel like touching it up and doing some wet sanding yourself (it's not as tough as you think, but perfection is going to take a repaint.)

If it's not through the color coat:
Start out with some Meguiars 80 on a cutting pad and you can probably get that out. Follow it with some 82 and then 84. Coat with NXT wax and, though it'll still be there, you'll never see it. :)
