| View Full Version : stupid question, but me nice 1QUICKV 08-02-06, 09:52 PM will an LS 7 fit in the CTS-V :stirpot: or should i keep dreaming. i like stock motors that were built to last. "if you want fast buy fast" nikon 08-02-06, 09:55 PM with enough money, anything can be done....well, put it this way GM highperformance stuffed an ls7 into a solstice, so my money's on yes it'll go in the V.....how deep your pocket is would be the only concern. BBV 08-02-06, 09:56 PM Absolutely I am considering the same A Maggie and cam will cost me ~ 6.5K An LS7 Crate motor is ~ 13K Tough decision. Dennisscars 08-02-06, 10:06 PM The age old question.. How fast can you afford to go? Possibilities increase as money spent increases... ChicagoCTS32 08-02-06, 11:26 PM Absolutely I am considering the same A Maggie and cam will cost me ~ 6.5K An LS7 Crate motor is ~ 13K Tough decision. Latest issue of Motor Trend shows a new Corvette Stingray concept drawing with a blown LS7... $19.5k for both? diverdan 08-02-06, 11:52 PM Again, anything is possible. But you would have to do some serious modifications: dry sump, battery in the back, etc. You could mod the existing engine to those power levels much easier and cheaper. 1QUICKV 08-03-06, 07:03 PM the ls7 with trans and computer and everything ready to run will cost about 19k. it is on ebay fully load with the viper trans and cats. are cars cts-v used to be the fastiest sedan, now if you think about it were in the middle of everything.... 400 hp whats that? everyone needs at least 500hp with all these new cars coming out. an ls7 would be nice but i guess it would be so easy to put a supercharger in. my point is to blow the doors off of a zo6 and still have four doors.... 04CTSVFLA 08-03-06, 07:08 PM then fully build ur ls6, and spray 200-250 shot. nikon 08-03-06, 07:41 PM ya, the ls6 can take it....gees I remember a guy with an LT1 that was making close to if not 1000hp n/a ......its possible, look at that twin supercharged V that was making 800horse, h/c guys are making 460whp, you'll need more than that to take a z06, but I dunno. StealthV 08-03-06, 07:48 PM It'll take much more than a crate LS7 in a V to blow the doors off a C6 Z06. On the other hand, it would hold its own against a stock C5 Z06 in a straight line. Words of wisdom for the day- A. Many C5 and C6 Z06s in this world aren't stock any more and will kick a Vs ass in just about any situation. There is always someone faster. The weight penalty of the V alone is expensive to overcome when one goes picking on plastic fantastics. B. On the other hand, you have other fingers. :D Stephen P. 08-03-06, 08:13 PM I am always fantasizing about the world's exotic cars. I often wish I could drive those special cars. I go to the Chicago or Detroit Auto Shows every year. I stand outside of the big fancy barrier, drooling over Farraris and Lamborginis. Well, now I have the chance to actually drive these and more. Fararri F430, Lamborgini Galardo, Bentley GT, Ford GT and Corvette Z06, all in one day. http://www.wcdriving.com/start.php This collection of cars is made available, for a notable fee, in cities across the US. Note that I am a Nuclear Engineer, not a salesperson. September 24, 2006 they will be in Des Moines, Iowa offering a full day of driving each of these new cars on public roads. When I return home, I will be crazy over adding performance modifications to the CTS V. Mallett, Lingenfelter, ......Stealth Tune.... all of the above, maybe. Then, hang on to your doors! :cloud9: thebigjimsho 08-03-06, 08:28 PM Well then, don't check out Lingenfelter's cars on sale. Yikes. As for $$$, a chauffeur up here in Boston just picked up his '06 Town Car. Engine rebuilt with forged internals, head work and a Kenne Bell supercharger tuned down to 10lbs of boost so the tranny can handle it. He's shuttling clients around with well over 500hp. diverdan 08-03-06, 10:37 PM "There is always someone faster" Words to live by. You can make your car as fast as you want, but: There is alway that next guy who spent more money, had a better performance platform to start with (like a Z06), or was willing to compromise more in terms of drivability to have the faster car. It's all about balance. Make the car as fast as you can afford and live with and then be happy with it. You'll win some races and lose some races, but you won't win them all. | |
