I think that with all the models of cadillacs and the vast years of production there should be more specified forums. There should be for example: DeVille Early model and late model Engines Early engines and the new engines.

There is not an exact science for determining the ideal number of forums. There are people who want less forums and people who want more. At CadillacForums I'd say Sal started us off with *relatively* few, and slowly he is increasing the number as we grow and it becomes clear which sections need to be further split up.
At some point it would be nice for each model to have it's own forum with the more popular models subdivided into 2 or more sub-forums by date, engine, or something along those lines.

We just had a thread about having too many divisions. I think having that many forums would make things TOO confusing. It is a good idea, and it could happen once we have a LOT more members. But since the board is relatively small, finding relavent information isnt too hard.
The way I see it, it is pointless to have 40 some forums with 15 of them completely empty.
If you have questions regarding your 79 SDV, just post in the pushrod section.

To be honest, I still think it would be better to just have a FWD and RWD section rather than so many for each model.
kevin has a point in some respects. for instance, currently the seville and deville are almost identical(styling not withstanding) so many topics for those cars are universal. i think the way it is now is pretty good, but tweaking along the way wont hurt, and there will be new cars as well(SRX). And hopefully someday a section just for the V-series, once the whole line-up has received the treatment :)

Thats true, there really arent many model specific issues from 90 on.
Bottom line: It will change sometime in the future when this place grows, but its fine the way it is.

I agree as well. If you guys have noticed, We have some sections here that see little or no action and others that are very busy. I think to divide it up more would start to complicate the thing more than necessary.

Like mentioned, this place will change with time. For now, it seems okay but I know it could be better. I certainly wish there were more people here with older Cadillacs - but that will come with time.. The forums certainly will evolve as time goes on.. I'm always open to hear suggestions and new ideas...
