Hi, I was detailing my car on Sunday and found LOTS of bugs and remnants thereof on the front bumper of my 97 STS. I could not get the said remnants to come off. Anyone know of a good cleaner to remove this stuff without damaging the finish?
tia!
One part Zep Industrial Purple cleaner and degreaser to three or four parts water. Spray on and let soak for five minutes. Repeat.
WD40 is said to work well also, though I have not tried it. I just use a nylon tire brush and a hose. Works well and does no damage.
Goo-Gone or Goof-Off (although they WILL strip any wax off the finish, they won't damage the paint underneath)/
Also any Bug or Tar remover, of which there are many and clearly labeled as such!

WD40 didn't do much when I tried that....
Harley Dealers have a spray product called "Spray Cleaner and Wax" that works pretty good....
A product line called S100 also has a spray cleaner and wax that works okay.... has more of a wax component than the Harley stuff.....

I've tried the Bug And Tar remover which did nothing for me in the past. :(

Simple Green, I find is the best for removing anything like tar and bugs. And, along with costing less than Bug & Tar remover, it's environmentally friendly.
Just use detailing clay and lubricant, works every time and is relatively easy.
