I have 97 Catera that has a problem. The 'ABS' and 'TC' lights are on. The odometer, speedometer and cruise control do not work. Initially the 'ABS' and 'TC' lights would go on and off. When the lights went off the odometer, speedometer and cruise began to work. Eventually these lights stayed on permanently and nothing works now. Caddillac charged me 300 dollars to evaluate this problem (they couldnt figure it out at first). They informed me the car needed an Electronic Control Module (ECM). They say the part is $1200.00. Does anyone have any experience with this problem or knowledge of this part? Thanks.

no first go back and tell them you want your $300 back because the problem is your EBTCM and here is how you change it out. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-catera-cimarron-forum/64452-ebtcm-removal-any-tips.html also they should charge you no more then $500 for a new ECM or a junk yard will sell you a ECM for $80 then you have to pay a dealer $100 to program it to your car but that is not your problem. Just need a new EBTCM and that will cure it.
