Part of your purchases go towards buying GM vehicles. http://www.gmcard.com/q4splash/?pf=gmcardpromo&mkt=169&media=G2PS08A200606002662XX gritter 07-19-06, 07:34 PM wish i woulda knew this long time ago haha gritter 07-19-06, 07:35 PM just got approved for one :-) 2004CTS 07-19-06, 07:48 PM I've had one for a while and accumulated ~$600 in rebate dollars. However, I don't need them (bought a CPO CTS, and GM card dollars apply only to brand new vehicles) and they're slowly expiring. Called cardmember services about transferring (selling to a third party at a discount), but the only way is to have the other person added to my card. Guess I could cancel the card right after? Hmmm, E-Bay...? gritter 07-19-06, 07:52 PM ill most likely get another cadillac when my 3 year lease is up if cadillac treats me right... So this card would be good for me kali_cts03 07-19-06, 08:16 PM ...and GM card dollars apply only to brand new vehicles)... Never knew that, and wasn't told that when I talked with them last time.... :hmm: .... well I guess I didn't metion an interest in a CPO car.... :bigroll: RobertCTS 07-20-06, 06:26 AM FYI, all your earned dollars are not eligible. Usually it's the first $1000. I have $1500 accumulated so 1/3 gets wasted. Doesn't seem fair IMO. Their interest rate is higher if you don't pay the credit card off each time. kali_cts03 07-20-06, 07:42 AM FYI, all your earned dollars are not eligible. Usually it's the first $1000. It depends what car for, the CTS you can use up to $2,000 per the info on their page: http://www.gmcard.com/GMCard/apply/redeem/allowances.jsp RobertCTS 07-20-06, 07:46 AM It depends what car for, the CTS you can use up to $2,000 per the info on their page: http://www.gmcard.com/GMCard/apply/redeem/allowances.jsp When I bought my '04 it was $1,000. kali_cts03 07-20-06, 07:58 AM When I bought my '04 it was $1,000. Looks like they had $1,000 both in 04 and 05, the $2,000 is for 06! RobertCTS 07-20-06, 08:17 AM Looks like they had $1,000 both in 04 and 05, the $2,000 is for 06! I imagine it varies depending how bad they want to move their cars. Z71 07-20-06, 07:39 PM When I purchased my 2004 GMC they were adding $750 bonus earning to your total toward a new vehicle (most all of them except Vette and new models). My total came to 2306. Usually once per model year they will offer you bonus cash to buy but only for certain period of time. MikeB066 07-21-06, 01:09 PM The limit per vehicle was instituted a few years ago, before that you could accumulate a total of seven years earnings with a $500 per year limit. When they expanded the program to allow use of points for rewards other than rebate towards a new car, like vacation discounts and such, they capped the rebate on a per model basis. Lucky for me, I refused to have my card upgraded back then because I didn't want to limit my purchasing power and had accumulated a few thousand points. I used my GM card for everything I could and it paid off last year when I bought my CTS because I got a $3,300 rebate. Unfortunately, they changed the program again and finally forced me to upgrade my card so I won't be getting that kind of deal again. All in all, if you are going to buy a GM car, the GM card can save you some money upfront and reduce your vehicle tax at time of purchase. It's pretty cool as long as you pay it off every month. | |
