Here is the whole article: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/cadillac/cadillac-srx-ar10904.html Looks nice inside. But , I have to be one of the only guys on here who does not think the change is such a big deal. It still is not one of the nicest interiors out there. Except for the textures dash that catches and traps dust, i don't have any issues with the looks of my 06 interior. Having come from a CTS to a SRX, I like having the same dash layout in my 06. I do miss the volume wheel on the steering wheel, though. syrob@MSN.COM 07-15-06, 11:54 AM "The Cadillac SRX crossover, critically acclaimed for its innovative design in one of the industry’s hottest new segments, now borrows a page from Cadillac’s rich and elegant past. Agreed. What the H*LL are they thinking. This is definitely a few steps backward.
My daughters 2003 Mazda Tribute has a six CD changer, tape, etc. And this is supposed to be Cadillac's latest.
They must be joking. I will stick with my 2005 SRX. robhersch 07-15-06, 11:04 PM The 2007 door treatment appears nice if all are color matched to interior.
We chose our 2005 SRX N*V8 RWD Blue Chip/ Ebony (this combo seemed to be available only in 2005 - not in 2004, not in 2006 -) partially due to most other interior colors using Ebony dash & Ebony door panels; and we love our SRX (and it's redneck ?? crude interior as talked down by some on this forum).
We compared and drove (before ordering our SRX) most available Japan (Lex, Inf, Maz), German (ML, BMW), & US (Ford, Dodge, Chry) competition head-to-head (6 vs 6, V8 vs V8) on same day (took nearly all day), same tracks; and to us - the SRX blew them away. Another day, tried Audi - still unimpressed.
We certainly are not "turned on" by the "new SRX dash treatment, ie spedo/ tach" nor by the center radio/ CD/ AC arrangement nor by the "french stitching"; but it would not turn us off if we were still looking.
We consider vehicle basics - design, engine, power train, AC, ultraview, etc - and extras like Nav, CD, DVD, Video (if not happy with mfgr types) as custom add-ons available via after mkt to suit.
We were really turned off (when browsing the Buick Rainier & Terraza at the Auto Show) by their pushing "french interior design" since that implies Renault or Citroen or ???; and not other premium vehicles nor Cadillac ! ckrichards 07-17-06, 08:45 AM I agree. I like my 2004 interior. I have the light tan interior, and the black dash. The black dash removes a great deal of glare from the windshield.
I wonder if Cadillac marketing did any surveys on who was requesting the different interiors. My guess is the owners used to German cars liked the original interior, while previous Cadillac owners were requesting the new interior where all the colors match. Wagoneer 07-17-06, 12:49 PM Actually, I came from European cars to the SRX; we bought the SRX despite the interior. Most (all?) foreign competitors in this price range use real wood and metal accents, real leather armrests with padding, softer and smoother interior textures, etc. They also tend to have higher feature content.
We bought the SRX for its engineering, driving characteristics, and its practicality; certainly not for its interior design and feature content. Both were far worse than the foreign competition. (For reference, this was the Volvo V70R with automatic, the VW Touareg V8, and the RX330---I have previously posted more detailed comparisons). stlgasman 07-18-06, 08:26 AM I would give up the 6 disc changer for the new interior but one shouldn't have to. What was wrong with the old unit? Thanks for posting that review! :highfive:
Hadn't seen that. :bouncy: Well, at least it has an audio-in jack so that you can connect your ipod or some other music player, although a more complete ipod integration option would have been nicer. | |
