Getting some parts for my newly rebuilt engine, the local parts store the only thermostat that is available for the north star is a 180 degrees this correct?seems little cool to me.Also would you use AC water pump or cardone brand. I have heard that AC plug wires are the only way to go.Thanks

The service manual says the operating range of the thermostat is from 188 degrees to 206, so I would say it's a 190. Just play it safe and put all Delco parts on the engine.

The proper thermostat is in fact a 180 deg. If you go to the AC Delco web page and look up the thermostat for a N* it's a 131-128 and it says 180. Not only that but Stant mfg's the thermostat for AC Delco. So you can use a Stant 14228 180 thermostat. How do I know this? I bought both parts to compare. They are identical.

From AC Delco web site: 131-128 is w/o gasket or 12TH11D with gasket.
