Thanks for the advice on finding engine diagnostic codes for a 95 FWB. Are the transmission codes in a different section than the PCM codes? I found you can scroll up to a section 38 on the display. I found a code 15 in the PCM section which I fixed but no other codes. The transmission doesn't want to upshift out of 1st. I had it up to about 30 mph and still no shift. Reverse is fine, the fluid is normal and first feels tight and solid with plenty of power. The car has 180,000 miles but I would think it would be an electronic control problem if it still has good 1st and R.

Transmission codes are included in the PCM (Powertrain) section. When you first enter diagnostics the pointer will be at "-00". The dash lets you know you are at the top of the section. Push the "Outside Temp" button and the codes for that section will be displayed. The "Off" button will clear those codes.
There are only five computer systems to read labeled 00 thru 04. Once you get to 05 and above you are looking at individual sensor readings, most of which are associated with the HVAC system.
Hint: Pointer 14 is for the transmission's converted internal speed sensor. It is a good idea to have your PCM programmed so that this number closely matches the dashboard speedometer.
Good Luck,
