Hey guys
Yet another problem with my caddy. There was a coolent leak, a rather bad one. It is dripping from what looks to be the oil pan? Attaches is a pic of where it was dripping from. Strangly enough, it has stopped. I got some bars leak stuff for it. Used it, and no leak thus far. Also, around the same area, i have oil slowly dripping. and in the pic, how theres the oil filter and the thing behind that, the large metal box. Theres oil slowly dripping from there. Any ideas on these 2 things?
Judging from the pic, I suspect the leak is on the back side (drivers side) of the engine. A common leak point is the water pump or the pump cover gasket. Run your fingers along the bottom edge of the cover and see if there is any coolant there. Also look at the pully side and see if there is any coolant leaking from the pump shaft seal.
The oil leak may well be from the oil filter adapter, another common leak source. Both easy fixes.
sorry ranger, but do you know of a place to find a pic of the WP location and where im supposed to "run my fingers". Im caddi-tarted
I can't find any pictures. Maybe someone else can and post it. The water pump is on the back side of the engine (driver side) and driven off the left bank intake cam. See the black drive belt shroud? Follow the belt to the water pump, then look outboard of that toward the drivers side fender. You should be looking at the water pump access cover. You'll porbably have to remove the intake ducting to gain access to it. Then run your fingers along the bottom edge to see if it is seeping coolant. Hope this helps.

Damn, that picture looks familar.. lol
Don't mind you using it if it helps point out the trouble spot... The coolant dripped from there because it's probably a low point. It may have been leaking from anywhere higher up on the engine, as Ranger noted. That 'large metal box' is the underside of the engine - the picture is kinda reversed, you're looking backwards and towards the driver side of the car. The two large greyish metal things are the engine and the transmission, SFAIK....
ya bro, sorry about not asking. I was panicing like crazy. I needed something quick, but remembered after i lost internet connection to PM you and ask.
