http://www.carcraft.com/eventcoverage/0302_real/index5.html Mad'lac 01-12-03, 06:45 PM Pretty impressive cars you beat out!!!! Even though you won I think you should have gotten a better score on the Craftsmanship. Can't wait to get the issue!!!! I bet the other fellows felt like this :banghead: after seeing your e.t. BeelzeBob 01-13-03, 08:57 AM This IS the regular Car Craft magazine sold in most stores.. Right? Not something different? jeff schwartz 01-13-03, 10:43 AM Yes, the regular Car Craft Magazine, March 03 issue, due out end of Jan 03. BeelzeBob 01-13-03, 04:18 PM Cool.. I'll have to get a copy... Mad'lac 01-13-03, 04:19 PM I'll be getting 3 copies. One to read , one to keep in the garage and one to save BeelzeBob 01-13-03, 05:01 PM Hey, that's a good idea.. Maybe I'll do the same.. I should.. DeVillish 01-13-03, 05:08 PM Thats some real insparation right there. Today my friend told me that i should get a real car to fix up, because you cant make a caddy haul. Wait till i show him this! Mad'lac 01-13-03, 05:41 PM I say go and build up that Caddy!!!!! I don't know about y'all but I tend to get tired of all the cookie cutter Mustangs and Camaros. You see it enuff and it gets old. One guy down here did go against the grain and put a 302 Ford in his S-10. Now thats something different. jeff schwartz 01-13-03, 06:07 PM I'm thinking you should weld some square tubing in the floor to mount the rear differential and four link. Install a mild 500 inch Cad engine or Northstar with a blower and go looking for Mustangs. That 90 Deville only weighs about 3500 lbs should run deep in the 11's , unless you put NOS, then It'll run 10s! DeVillish 01-13-03, 07:04 PM LOL i love it! but, it would be costly, and iam broke. hmm, but how hard would it be to go from fwd to rwd? couldnt i use Fleetwood parts? SEE! now you got me thinking! caddydaddy 01-13-03, 07:42 PM Awesome car!
I have a 1979 Sedan Deville that I am working on, or have been for years! It has a well modded 72' 472, but none of the other car mods that this car has!
Someday my car will be like yours! hehe! BeelzeBob 01-13-03, 10:53 PM You don't need to go RWD.. There are plenty of FWD cars out there running single digit quarter miles... A heavy FWD in the 11's or 12's should be okay.. Right? DeVillish 01-13-03, 11:37 PM that would be great, but, how do i get that kinda power? jeff schwartz 01-14-03, 07:54 AM Pick-up the Jan 03 issue of Hot Rod. They had recipes to get over 1000 Hp from a Northstar. Eliminate all emissions stuff, add a blower or Turbo. 565 HP was attainable with a fairly stock engine and a weiand blower. The only way to get more power out of the 90 engine is NOS. You'd be limitted to about 300-350HP and for how long who knows. And the front drive trans? Katshot 01-14-03, 09:05 AM HP isn't the issue when modding a FWD car for drag racing. The big issue is getting it to hook-up so you can get a good ET. Body, suspension, and tires are all major draw-backs to FWD cars that must be overcome. This why the major sanctioning bodies have adopted a seperate class for FWD drag cars. It was determined that RWD cars had an advantage. DAH!!
Kevin DeVillish 01-14-03, 09:18 AM Well right now iam worried more about my handleing more than going fast in a stright line, while that is fun, going fast while turning is more fun in opinion. Any ideas about that? jeff schwartz 01-14-03, 11:33 AM Put low profile 17-18" tires and wheels, contact sway bar companies for some large dia units, install KYB or TOkico struts/shocks. and attack the corners. DeVillish 01-14-03, 11:40 AM I was looking at the ajustable KYB shocks, but they say only the GR2s will fit my car. Also i have the shelf leveling rear suspension, whats that do anyway? jeff schwartz 01-14-03, 11:56 AM I have KYB non adj on my 82 Ftwd. I also used to have level ride. It was basically air shocks connected to a compressor. If you do away with the level ride. You'll probably have to cut one coil from the front springs to get the stance right. Which is what I did. Most sway bar companies, If they don't have bars for your car, could make some. I saw an ad in Grassroots Motorsports the other day for a company that will make any custom bar for about $100 ea. Mad'lac 01-14-03, 02:58 PM Hey Jeff, if I added Impala SS springs do I need to get rid of the level ride? Are the air shocks the only shocks on my car? I was planning to add Tokico shocks when I install the springs. jeff schwartz 01-14-03, 03:07 PM yea, the air shocks are the only rear shocks on the car. If you remove and replace with normal shocks, the car may sit a little low in the rear. As stated above, I cut one coil from the front. HotRodSaint 01-17-03, 09:32 PM I like your front bumper mod. Did you do the glass yourself? jeff schwartz 01-20-03, 08:13 AM Both bumpers are made from .060 Aluminum Sheet stock.
10 lbs each. I did them myself. |
