| View Full Version : Is this all it takes to break into the Escalade? TheCaddyKidd 06-30-06, 02:34 AM found this pic on ebay on an ext that was broken into...I didnt see any windows knocked out or anything.. just this.. hcvone 06-30-06, 06:46 AM That is one way. Many many years ago I owned a chain of hardware stores, and went to school to get my cert for being a locksmith to teach my employees, I have tools to get into cars and houses in seconds, I am sure in these days of the internet just about anyone can get these tools. :( jrs05caddyext 06-30-06, 08:57 AM I had the key hole punched in. fast66 06-30-06, 11:31 AM found this pic on ebay on an ext that was broken into...I didnt see any windows knocked out or anything.. just this.. Then:gun: I like the idea but I don't like the chrome covers. Are you going to need the rear door linkage? Wonder how much would a body shop charge for parts and installation? jrs05caddyext 06-30-06, 04:01 PM Jimmy Jammer will stop the theft but will not stop the damage. It costs around $900 to get fixed. I would rather have that damage to my door than have the vehicle stolen. It also helps to have connections at auto/body shops so they can fix it for less GIO 06-30-06, 05:12 PM I like the idea but I don't like the chrome covers. It's getting done will show pics. vietfob714 07-02-06, 08:44 PM does the jimmy jammer really work? fast66 07-02-06, 08:55 PM They drill the hole there so that they can pull the metal wire that unlocks the door, Just remove the metal wire so they cannot pull anything. Jimmyjammer does the same. wth metal wire gone, door keyhole will not work. This has been done on mine TheCaddyKidd 07-02-06, 09:18 PM the only down fall to getting the jimmy jammer or blocking out the keyhole is that if you battery goes dead and your keyhole doesnt work how do you get in the truck? on my truck i just put the hood latch security covre on so that you cant just pop my hood open with a screwdriver... so if the battery goes dead and you have no keyhole there is no getting in the truck? i guess youll be smashing in a window lol fast66 07-02-06, 09:32 PM the only down fall to getting the jimmy jammer or blocking out the keyhole is that if you battery goes dead and your keyhole doesnt work how do you get in the truck? on my truck i just put the hood latch security covre on so that you cant just pop my hood open with a screwdriver... so if the battery goes dead and you have no keyhole there is no getting in the truck? i guess youll be smashing in a window lol I have 3 yellow tops in my truck and a 280a alternator. 3 batteries will not die, trust me also passenger side keyhole works TheCaddyKidd 07-02-06, 10:01 PM I wasnt exactly referring to your specific vehicle but in general most people dont have 3 batteries and such... I was just saying in general if someone to go that route how do you get in if battery is dead.. DeePDiSHeD 07-02-06, 10:20 PM you could always run a positive cable somewhere accessible under the car to charge the battery if it dies. TheCaddyKidd 07-02-06, 10:22 PM thats not a bad idea.. i have been actually thinking of doing lambo doors with shaved handles so that would clear up some worries of the shaved handles if i got that route.. fast66 07-02-06, 10:50 PM thats not a bad idea.. i have been actually thinking of doing lambo doors with shaved handles so that would clear up some worries of the shaved handles if i got that route.. the problem with that is from the outside, how will you push the door up? i dont know for sure, but i think you have to push the lambo door up, it doesnt go up on its own. I like the idea though. very smooth TheCaddyKidd 07-02-06, 11:20 PM well from the videos i have seen the lambo kits are pulled out away from teh car and most people in the videos use like 2 fingers and squeeze the edge of the door and pull/push it up with just two fingers... so it would basically be the door poppers popping out the doors and then just pulling the door open at the edge and swinging it up as i mentioned above... some people have said that the lambo doors are heavy however i read that the springs are rated to hold doors that weigh in excess of 300 pounds and i dont think the doors are that heavy unless im missing something... there are kits out there however that i have seen that do make the doors go up automatically... they take a little while to go up but its all powered.. my only concern would be if i was in a hurry.. not sure if you can lift and such manually... USAF_C17 07-03-06, 02:43 PM Anyone know where the best deal on a jimmy jammer is? Thanks David Sorg 07-03-06, 04:20 PM If you keep your factory trailer hitch, you can trickl-charge the battery through it. Probably wouldn't take long to get enough of a charge to pop the electric lock... fast66 07-03-06, 09:53 PM If you keep your factory trailer hitch, you can trickl-charge the battery through it. Probably wouldn't take long to get enough of a charge to pop the electric lock... never thought about that. customizer 07-05-06, 08:01 PM I have 3 yellow tops in my truck and a 280a alternator. 3 batteries will not die, trust me also passenger side keyhole works Doesnt leaving the passenger side door lock working defeat the purpose of taking off the drivers side? What they do on the drivers side can just as easily be done on the passenger. All they are doing is manually unlocking the lock from the backside of the lock cylinder. Only thing I can guess is that you are relying on them going fr the drivers side instead of the passenger side. DBrisson 07-05-06, 09:13 PM When I locked the keys in my esky it was easier to use a coat hanger on the rear doors. I was in the car in about 3 mins of shifting the hanger around the door release mechanism. If the positive line of the batteries is suddenly shunted to ground I think only a alarm with an internal battery is effective. This is how thiefs got into a friends mustang, they even left the half jumper cable they used to short the batteries to the frame. It was a mess to repair. Guyz1996deville 07-07-06, 12:17 PM There are so many technological advancements that make it look like the thief is more detured. For example the satalite alarm systems are great. You can be any where until you find out you car/truck is being stolen, for a split second. All the theif has to do is pull the car in a aluminum trailer and the sygnal is lost. Or you can just wrap aluminum foil around the pickup sensor. The best defence is a good offence. Put the siren in the cab, and under the rear bumper, and under the hood. At this rate the person will have ear piercing decibels while he is working inside and out...
