I need help!! I have replaced my water pump and flushed the radiator, but my car is still overheating. It will run okay 201-212 until the air conditioner is turned on and then it gets hot. It has boiled over and I got the message to idle engine. Also after driving it (with the air off) the the temp. gage will show under 212, but it will loose coolant throught the overflow. Does anyone have any ideas???? (I did put the thermostat in hot water and it opened about 1/2 inch just a few seconds before the water boiled. It is a 98 Deville with 135,000 miles.

Do a search for overheating. It has been discussed many times. Things to check, cap, purge line, belt tensioner, coolant mixture and finally a cylinder pressure test for the head gaskets.

Are you losing coolant other than from boiling over?

My car ran to about 230 with no problem. That is when it is idling in my driveway. I thought that might be normal. But once I start tor cruise in the 70' and 80's it drop about 10 degree.
