: Best guess on value of a 88-89 Brougham?
A friend of mine has his dad's 88-89 Brougham that he doesn't need and wants to sell. What is ballpark?
It is dark maroon in color, hasn't been garaged in years, needs some serious paint attention. Not a cancer car (that's rust for those of you who don't live in the north...), just got some work done on it to make it drivable. Shop said it needed an exhaust, but we don't know if they are just trying to "suggestive sell" or not.
I'll get some picts soon if there is any interest.
I think it is the darker color red/maroon, not like Dopestar's lighter color. Interior matches exterior.
Around 80K miles.

I had a 1989 with around 80,000 miles that I sold for $950 and it sounded in better mechanical shape than the one you are looking at.

$3500 I say...not an expert on it though. Bad paint tends to really turn people off.
Estimate the value of the car, were it in pristine condition with the same mileage. Which guessing could be around 4000-6000, then subtract all the work that needs to be done to bring it to that condition. A good paint, any exhaust and mechanical work, I'd say that car is around 1000 tops. Of course, it may be in worse/better condition which you have to "guesstimate" the value.

It really depends on your area but those broughams are worth around $2000-$3,000 in perfect shape. Sounds like that one is worth less then $1,000.

Someone told me I could easily get close to $3,000 for mine. Not that THAT day would ever come!

With bad paint it wouldn't go for $1k here. But that's here, and you don't live here. Cars values vary greatly by region.

Hmmm wow, it looks as though $3500 was way over. I thought it would be higher because of the low mileage.
I guess I'll say about $1200.

$3500 is WAY over.
My cousin is asking $5500 for his MINT 1992 Brougham with 65K original miles!

In my area, there are two '87-'88 Broughams for sale, both going for $2300 in ok condition that need paint, low miles too.
Heres what I paid for my cars, maby that would give you some idea.
1983 Coupe deville, good condition, 46,000 m.i. - $2500
1990 Brougham d'Elegance, MINT condition, 115,000 m.i. - $6000
1979 Coupe Deville Phaeton, good condition,...lets just say high m.i. - $2500
Ok, thanks!! If anyone IS interested, I can go and get some picts. It is owned by a co-worker. It is just sitting now, I think it is still at the shop, it will probably come back to his place this weekend.
It is in 53115 if anyone is close.
