Ok,

I have a CTS now and with 2 kids (2 1/2 Year old and 4 Month Old) MY CTS is getting too tight. I need to move up to more room and I tested the SRX and dont like it. I am also a budget minded person so I also would like the best deal.

Lincoln has an incredible deal right now on the Navigatior:

http://www.lincoln.com/shoptools/special_offers.asp?vehicle=navigator&year=2006&zipcode=&intcmp=B_LincolnHotVehicles0506_4x2NavText_Special Offers_20060501

The Escalade is over $250 a month more than the Navigation with this special promo thats running. Why is the Escalade worth more than $200 a month more or is it not worth the extra money?

The current deal on the Navi's is great and yes I do have one. We have an '04 monochrome black. The reason though that i have been lurking on this forum is because I am interested in the new Escalade ESV. I see lots of positiveness in both vehicles and if the the new Navi coming out wasn't sooo ugly and if it had more power, I would get another. Having said that I do think the new Escalades have great styling and finally, in my opinion, have an interior that fits the vehicle. Now if only the Escalade would have a 3.73 rearends and IRS then I would have one on order by now.

BTW why does the Escalade have a ridiculous 3.42 rear end? Just think if it had some higher gear ratios how it would jump off the line. Maybe the new tranny has a very low first gear to compensate for the high gears.

Be easy on me I am new. Great forum btw.

The rear ratio is not important. The idea is to provide a low rpm at high speed, along with the mileage it provides. There is also some benefit in not having the rotating hardware spinning so fast, ie bearings, gears, etc.

The new 6 spd transmission has a fairly low 1st gear. The off-the-line is better than the 3.73 Denali I had before.

I use mine primarly for towing and the transmission is great compared to the previous GM 4 spds.

With the '06, and the flashy-toothed '07 Navigator, it's engine leaves a lot to be desired. The vehicle may have the big tow rating, but this is not indicative of the ease of the tow. It's underpowered by any comparison.

However, if there was anything I wish the Escalade had would be the fold-in-floor 3rd row. The IRS is something that sure provides great handling in my wife's X3, but it rides rough as hell.

Plain and simple why its such a huge difference in price. Escalade is a brand new model, the Navigator gets its facelift in the next year (could be this summer, not sure when they release that model year), so they need to move the old units.

Wow.. Your right. The 2007 is quite ugly but I do like the styling of the current Navigator and the price is definately right. I lowest price I have seen on the 07 Escalade's is in the high 600's with $5000+ down. I can get some deals on the older ones but I hate the interior on the previous models.

Ahhh the timeless Ford vs. Chevy debate. Both are nice SUVs, and you'll get different opinions depending on which forum you browse. If budget is a big concern, go with the more economical choice.

I sincerely hope that link of the Navigator "re-design" isn't the final draft. The current design is much more attractive.....Ford needs to go back to the drawing boards IMO.

I dont care how much they would offer me for a 2005, 2006 or 2007 Navi, I would never buy or give my money to a auto company that would produce this. The 07 Navigator is 2 months away from hitting dealerships and the "buzz" has been zero. We were talking about the 07 Escalade first of 05.

Considering how bad the '07 Navi is, the resale value of the earlier designs will increase when they hit the streets....

Maybe it would be a good investment... :duck:

why dont you check out the infiniti qx and the range rover sport. both are around the same price range. the infiniti youll save a ton on and both are much more advanced and better vehicles than the navigator and the escalade. the 2007 escalade id lean away from it will soon be the next "most stolen vehicle" a 2007 model car with no immobilizer key or a alarm. i mean come-on

AWF_AXIS

The '07 does have a newer coded key..

GM's '07 literature claims "Vehicle Anti-Theft Via Alarm and PASS-Key III(R) Engine Immobiliziser".

This is supposed to kill the fuel system if the vehicle does not sense the proper key.

There is a rudimentery alarm, although it is only detecting the doors being opened without the alarm being disabled.

After looking at the Infiniti, it's front end is as ugly as the '07 Navi, and the side profile looks like two different vehicles welded together. Probably will grow on its owner, as any mother might love their kid, even if ugly. As long as you close your eyes when getting in the truck, you'll be happy.

The Range-Rover, inspite of being taken over by Ford, has not been able to improve it's reliability much. JD Powers has historically ranked it at the bottom of the pile.

As for the problems of GM, well I've only own GM, and have never experienced the problems others have had. May 3 or 4 service visits in the life of the trucks. Maybe I've been lucky, but other than on these forums, I've never heard of anyone suffering much from GM's in general.

I believe I'd have to look real hard at the 13-15 G's off they are offering on the '06 Navi. Puts you at about 40-43K drive out. Nice looking ride. '07 is hideous. First I've seen of it. Gonna be hard to get in an '07 Esky for less than 58K.

I herd that the 07 Navi is based off the Lincolns of the late 1940s and early 1950s, you can see the family link in the grille texture.

I traded my '03 Yukon XL for an '06 Navigator mainly to get A/C seats (live in SoCal and HATE heat/sun). I'm 6'4 and within 2 weeks I realized how much smaller the front cabin is compared to my GMC among other unpleasant things. Traded the Lincoln in on my '07 ESV (with the climate package...A/C SEATS!)and took a $4500 loss on the trade in....worth every penny. My 'Lade is so much more comfortable, WAY more power and turns friggin' heads EVERYWHERE.

I sit in my office and pretend I am driving the '07 ESV I factory ordered almost a week ago.

I can no longer work, and with 11 weeks to go .. this is no good.

Oh, and to stay on topic .. the '07 Navigator is hideous looking.

The lights are from the ugly Zephyr..

BTW - I went to 7 different Lincoln dealers to get this $499 lease and guess what neither had a vehicle available at that price.

The ugliness of the '07 Navi is just the reason that I will trade our '04 in on a Escalade ESV. Maybe if Lincoln put in some major power, I then might be able to swallow the styling, but even then.
BTW I know the ESV's are just getting to the dealers, but they are in short supply.

I heard it from so many Lincoln-lovers,who were slamming the 07 Escalade for it's looks, but they just did'nt know what was in store for their beloved Lincoln Navigator did'nt they? that thing looks cheesey in every way.even the back end looks second rate. The best Navigator,Lincoln ever made, were the 03 and 04 models. Those had the 5.4L DOHC engine that were "lincoln only".and not the F150 truck 5.4 SOHC variants that are out now.I did'nt like that move on their part.Seem like from there, the Navigator was nose-diving then, and looks like it's on a "crash and burn" mission.Mission accomplished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I should have explained myself in more simple terms for you and your in-breed brother. I am trading in my '04 Navigator because I don't like to keep vehicles past two years or 50k. So I am looking to trade on an Escalade. Does that make sense?

BTW I do belong on some other boards and everyone, yes everyone has said welcome, but not here. Take care.

Just to inform you, the only reason some people were making fun of your post was because it could be interpreted that you were trading in your 2004 Lincoln Navigator because the new 2007 Navigator was ugly. Almost like you didn't want to be part of the Lincoln family because it had an ugly new car. That's what it sounded like to me. I understand what you mean now. You like the 2007 Escalade more than the 2007 Navigator. Either way you were going to trade-in your 2004, but since the new Navigator was ugly, you are moving to the Escalade. Try to be more specific and give some more details. Oh and to satisfy your needs, welcome to the forum. :welcome:

Thanks.

"Illiterate" would imply that one knows the english langauge, which you do not. A first year English teacher would have a blast with your GED response. :thepan:

As for all the others, thanks for the kind welcomes and PM's and I look forward to getting an ESV ASAP. Thanks again.

You put "Im trading my 04 Naivgator for an ESV because the 07 Nav is ugly". Do you think we are all psychic and know you trade every 2 years? Maybe if you could have even gotten a GED you would know how to express yourself in a matter that people understand what you mean.

Well thats what I ended up doing. I just purchased a 2004 with very low miles loaded with everything... DVD Entertainment, NAV, AC/Heated Seats, Power Everything, Moon Roof, Power Liftgate, Electric Folding 3rd Row seats, and much more for $27k. I could not find an Escalade in the same price range so I jumped on this.
