i thought the 1st truck was a chevy it looked like it and the guy told me he had a 383 stroker in it. the 2nd run was an iroc i know because it said IROC on the side and i seen his engine after the race 5.7tuned port and if you read the info on the bottom of the flick the last car was a grand am yes with an 3800 supercharged v6 out of a bonneville ssei with a pully kit therefore i was essentally like racing a slightly heavier GTP

The truck was a ford f150 late 70-80's! Not all IROC were 350(5.7) cars most had 305(5.0) in them HP averaged 180 for first ones to 240 for last one ! You can not tell a 350 or 305 by looking at them you have to run the ID number behind the water pump to make sure! They both use the same harminic balancer a 400 small block has a different balancer because it exterall balanced and easy to tell! Stickers are easy to buy! The bonneville ssei had around 240-250 hp from factory! A GTP is a Grand Prix not a Grand Am. A Grand Prix would be heavier than a Grand Am.So not to bash your stuf but what were you 1/8 mile times?

that was a 350 the guy had the paper work and it also says the cars cubic inch size on the sticker on the rad support i have a 5.0 trans am and know very well the differece between the 50 and 57. I am not an expert on trucks i assumed it was a chevy the guy said it had a 383 which to my knowledge is a chevy motor.

the only time slip i kept was for the 3rd run against the Grand AM with 3800 with the S/C he was left i was right

so you know some 305 had alm heads! most 350 cars did not have t-tops I have had 8 camaro 2 GTA Trans Ams did you check Id on block? are the times for 1/8 of mile? not to be rude but 49.2 mph and 55.1 mph and run 7.44 and 6.629 is not right !! My Corvette runs 6.98 with 1.8 60ft and at 120 mph in 1/8 of mile which is around high10's in 1/4 mile!! I'm sure your not even close to 660 hp!!

A 383 technically is not a factory chevy motor its a 350 bored 60 with 400 crankshaft and rods with machine work! Chevy never made one! Dodge made a 383! I have drag raced for 28 years and built several chevy small block as well as big block chevys!

There's no way in hell you ran a 7 second 1/8 mile. It didn't happen, and it never will. A 9.6 I can see, since it seems to be the average for these cars, but a 7.4...definitely not. I'll post my timeslips from Orlando Speedway which is an NHRA sanctioned 1/4 mile track. All of my runs had a average time of about 9.6 in the 1/8, with the fastest ending at 14.809 at 95mph.

Are you absolutely sure it was an actual 1/8 mile? Like denscor, the times and speed just don't fit. I wanna see these time slips too.

Hmm...next time, find a real track. They seems to be having problems with there timing equipment. Maybe this is due in part to the makeshift setup.

CadillacSTS42005
06-25-06, 01:07 AM
well at least i proved im not lying hahaha do i find them a tad odd, yes. however i would assume since this is the 3rd year they ran it and since all my slips were about the same times that the equipment was legit. i wish i could find my other 2 slips from earlier in the morn but i cant.

On their site, they mention the track being set up on a "330ft" section of General Robinson Blvd. (wherever that is). A full 1/8 mile is 660ft. From the way they make it out to sound, it seems like their track is only a 1/16 of a mile. It doesn't make any sense.

After watching the video It looks like less than an 1/8th mile.

Where is this race? Looks like a blocked off street. In the 60's in Chicago they had indoor drags that were about 100 yds. Looked similar. (The cars exited the building at speed, it was at the Intl Amphitheatre)

Edit: I looked further and saw where it was.

A buddy of mine from back at school has a WS6 T/A that would make the one in that video look like a wind up toy. It's got loads of crap done to it...stuff I don't even know. The only sure thing I can say is that a LS6 now resides under his hood. It's pretty built up too, went for a ride in it one day after all the work was done.....scared the shit outa me.

Cool vid although the track needs to be 1/4 mile dammit. If I want to see performance I'll watch Mark99STS' video :)

This should be good inspiration since I'll be spending all day tomorrow and they day after, and probably the day after that working on my ETC..

Uh, denscor, I spent this last Sunday, watching Ron Capps loose in the second round, at "The Hawaiian"'s ( Roland Leong) house here in L.A.

Actually, Roland has an '85 Birretz. ( Or how ever the hell you spell that darn word!)
