No, the wheels will not make that much of a difference. I have 22's on my 2005 Escalade and I don't get anything near that. I drive like an idiot and still get around 11.5 or 12.0 mpg. How do you drive?

Thanks.

Heavy foot? Bad 02 sensors? There's my guess.

It is definitly not the heavy foot issue. I have an extremlely heavy foot and I do not get numbers near these. As I stated, even with my heavy foot, I get above 11.0 mpg, usually between 11.5 and 12.0 mpg. I would just get the sensors checked out. I'm pretty sure that is the problem.

Thanks.

Yeah, it seems like it is the sensor. Visit your local dealership when you have a chance just to get it checked. Good luck.

Thanks.

You will get less MPG with bigger wheels and tires depending on the weight difference from stock, other things include how many miles you have (many of my new GM cars and trucks had poorly gapped spark plugs from the factory) bad fuel filter, tire pressure, what grade of gas do you use? When you put the stock air intake back on how many miles did you have it on for? It can take several hundred miles for the computer to adjust. Did you check the mileage on paper, or is this the computer giving you this info?

Not related, but do you have any pictures of your rig? I'm sittin' 22s now, and I am really considering the 2 -3 drop. Thanks.

I have a 2005 AWD with factory 20" wheels and if I heavy-foot it I will get in the 9-10 mpg range and driving on the highway I will get 16-17 mpg.

I was getting 13.0 mpg before I went to the dealership and now I get 12.9 mpg after they replaced the fuel filter.

I get 14.1 on average around town running mid-grade (89 octane) fuel. My 6.0 is stock with the exception of a K&N filter. I don't get much better than 14.5 driving the highways because I drive like a bat out of hell, and there are lots of big hills around here.

When I hear people talking about big drops in mpg, even under normal driving, my guess is o2 sensors.

You only use mid-grade fuel in your Escalade? I thought that we needed to use premium. I have been using premium and I get around 11.5 - 12.0 mpg, city, but I do drive like a complete idiot. I am constantly pushing my Escalade so I understand why my fuel efficiency is so bad. Anyways, have you tried both premium and mid-grade or only mid-grade? If you have used both, have you noticed any differences?

Thanks.

I use regular, but the altitude up here makes the reg and prem the same. But I did get better mielage when I used the regular after I had prem in it.

That is very interesting. I am going to look into it and try to see if I need to use premium or not.

Thanks.

I have been using mid grade fuel since the fuel prices has been so expensive.

No difference to my truck whatsoever in performance or mpg.

I still get about 14mpg to 14.5mpg.

You don't need to use premium. The 6.0 IIRC is 10:1 compression. I have run the 87 octane stuff, 89 octane, and 91 octane at different points. The only time the motor seemed to run "less smooth" was while running 87 octane. I didn't find any difference from the 89 to the 91 octane. IMO you can run the 87 octane all day long without hurting a thing, but with 10:1 compression you may avoid annoying knocking by using higher octane fuel. *
