I have a 2003 CTS and it has the ugly antenna on the rear window. Are there any smaller more attractive antennas available?
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks guys!

Johnny RoyalFlush 06-16-06, 12:08 PM hell yeah i used the wire hanger wrapped in aluminum foil that i had on my old t.v. lol j.k. i think they have those fin antennaes or the small stubs i plain old removed my antenna and it still works 100% if anything you could probably incorporate it into the interior of the car it shouldnt cause that much of a diff being that i have NO antenna and it works perfectly fine... maybe they were put there so we can catch signals from intelligent life from outer space... http://www.mycarsucks.com/photos/images/car1.jpg Jonny223 06-16-06, 12:11 PM How do I take the existing antena off? Is it just glued there? RoyalFlush 06-16-06, 12:39 PM yeah, i used a blowdryer and dental floss to get under it. and when i removed it i used some adhesive remover that was left over from when my gf had the floors done. also i believe robertcts had posted about an adhesive remover that is also good i think it's goo-b-gone or sumthing you can find it using the forum search. roman371 06-16-06, 12:49 PM I don't use my onstar, so i removed the ugly wire antenna and replaced it with a stubby spike (details) below. Do a search on the Spike 8041 an you should find something. Threads were different, but a spot of JB weld works. I will post pics later if you want. Good luck. Part Number is: 8041 Spike unity gain cellular antenna (Cost $4.20) I ordered the whole glass mount kit but all you need is a mast. The mast is a little bigger than the threads so I used some heat shrink tubing on the threads and it worked fantastic. You could order the whole kit and use the new outside piece with the mast on it but it will not tilt left to right and so it will lean. Anymore question, let me know. Wouldn't the tubing negate the contact between the base and the antenna? Is there one out there that does fit? Or, have most of you taken the thing off? I know on a V thread some said they took the outside mount off, leaving the inside mount on and they still had a signal with no issues. Can anyone verify that this would work. 2004CTS 06-20-06, 07:20 PM I have a 2003 CTS and it has the ugly antenna on the rear window. Are there any smaller more attractive antennas available?
