I was on vacation last week and I didn't drive my car for 6 days.... When I got home my 05 CTS (3.6L) would not start!!!! The engine was cranking over but the engine was not firing. After about 5 minutes of cranking the engine it finally started. Once it started it ran very ruff for about 10-15 seconds. I took the car to the dealer the next morning and it didn't have any codes on the computer. They told me that what most likely happend was the fuel drained out of the injectors/fuel lines and it took awhile to get it back into the engine. Does this sound right????

I was thinking it was the cam position sensor not sending a signal to fire the engine but wouldn't that leave an error message in the computer? How far back does the computer keep data?

Does anyone have any clue what happened or suggestions on what to check. I don't want to get stranded.

I haven't had a problem since

Mine did that a month ago, but it was the battery loosing it's charge. I took it straight to the Service Department and they gave me a new battery. They ran all the codes on the computer , but nothing came up.

The battery seemed fine but once the car started the volt meter was reading higher than normal. I figured it was just because it took so long to start the car.

My volt reader read fine too. As I was driving the battery was changing to black. Not sure if yours is the same thing. If it is it's an easy fix that's under warrenty...

Watch the battery as I had this problem. There wasn't enough charge from it to activate the fuel pump fully, eventually it started. Listen to the fuel pump when you turn the key to ACC position, it should only take a couple seconds to fully pressurize after sitting overnight. If it takes several seconds after sitting overnight, then you do probably have a low battery charge, and it will only worsen until you are likely stranded.
