View Full Version : Staggered fitment for wheels? I want to go 20/8.5 in the front and 20/10 in the rear. Any insight on this?
Fit okay with stock suspension, is that too wide, etc?

Not sure on the 10" What tire would you use to keep the overall diameter the same? I would suspect rub in the rear. What's the offset on the 10"? Not sure on the offsets but i was doing wheels searches and the websites offer that size for the CTS. I wonder if thats too wide for the rear? I think a member did this. Maybe Dubbed Stealth? The offset is critical as it determines if the wheel gets pushed out or inward. To far out and it surely will rub. I think a member did this. Yeah definitely. I just went to the garage to feel my fenders on my 06. Am I correct in saying that the 06 model comes with rolled fenders from the factory. It sure did feel like it. I'm sure '03 thru '06 are the same fender. The lip is slightly rolled from the factory but usually not enough. They rent fender rollers in some areas. Tomm, one of our members rented one and it wasn't to pricey. The biggest concern is cracking the paint. I think someone advised heating the paint with a hairdryer. If you decide you want to do this I can put you in contact with Tomm at his business. blown black caddy 06-14-06, 03:24 PM Or leave the car parked in the sun for a couple of hours then roll the fenders. Rey Rey 650 06-14-06, 03:28 PM Have you seen these wheels in person? How does it look with the black covers? Have you seen these wheels in person? How does it look with the black covers?
I sure haven't but thanks Rey for bringing that up. I mainly liked the fact that they were covers so that I can roll ALL chrome also if I wanted to. I didn't think about what they look like in person. Hmmph. I think a member did this. Maybe Dubbed Stealth? The offset is critical as it determines if the wheel gets pushed out or inward. I just found out the offsets.
It will be a 35mm offset in the front and a 42mm offset in the rear.
Will this work? Rey Rey 650 06-14-06, 03:54 PM Yea, Its kinda cool to have an option of black or chrome... I'd like to see what it looks like on a car though... Ive checkd car domain and nothing... Rey Rey 650 06-14-06, 03:54 PM I just found out the offsets.

Yea, the offset range for the cts is 32-45mm estrivera 06-14-06, 04:48 PM I think a member did this. Maybe Dubbed Stealth? The offset is critical as it determines if the wheel gets pushed out or inward. To far out and it surely will rub.
Robert if i'm not mistaken the one with the 8.5 in the front and 10 in the back is SDMarine. I think he mentioned once that he had to flare the rear fender to make them fit or something like that. would love to see pictures of your end product and if you had to do anything special to get them on.... those wheel + tires arnt cheap.. I wasnt thinking of black rims but these look good. i know this is a newbie question but what is offset.. or should i just search for it..
Is it hte amount that the rim is pushed in or out because of design? Rey Rey 650 06-14-06, 05:58 PM i know this is a newbie question but what is offset.. or should i just search for it..

Dont trip... I just know that it has to be between 32-45 for our car lol... All Good... no tripping here.. it was an honest question.. idont know what it is. RedGalant2k1 06-14-06, 07:05 PM no tripping here.. it was an honest question.. idont know what it is.
Offset is a basic explanation of where the wheel mounting point (or hub) is in relation the the overall width of the wheel. I'll try to give you a easy example.
First of all we need to know how many millimeters per inch. 1" = 25.4mm knowing this we can move on to further explanation.
Our example wheel will be a 16x8" wheel. A zero offset would mean there is 4" outside AND inside of the wheel mounting hub. Now lets say that same wheel was for a Cadillac CTS. The CTS requires what you will hear referred to as a 'high offset' wheel.
In this example lets say we moved the mounting point for the wheel two inches towards the outer lip of the wheel. This produces a high offset, in this case two inches would mean the offset is +50.8mm.
]-------X-[ <------------ Negative Offset (Reserved for custom wheel applications for extreme wheel width)
]----X----[ <------------ Zero Offset (RWD Vehicles, some SUVs).
]---X-----[ <------------ Low Offset (RWD Vehicles, many SUVs).
]-X-------[ <------------ High Offset (FWD Vehicles, 4WD Vehicles). RedGalant2k1 06-14-06, 07:08 PM I sure haven't but thanks Rey for bringing that up. WTW (aka Giovanna/Gianelle) makes nice covers, a little overboard if you ask me, but hey its nice to roll chrome, the roll all blacked out.
In person those caps aren't gaudy or overbearing on the wheel. Btw, thats a new wheel for this year, so not many people will have it. You may be right Rivera. The Marine was a pioneer in several areas.:) Hmm, well I am not lowering my car but will be carrying passengers in the back seat for my profession of selling homes. So, i am wondering if a 10 inch wheel will be practical for me. I want them so bad. If you have the nivomats, they should self level and keep you ok. If your car came with the HID lights you have them. If you have the nivomats, they should self level and keep you ok. If your car came with the HID lights you have them.
Nope, my car doesn't have HID's/ RobertCTS 06-15-06, 10:09 AM Nivomats woulda been nice for you. You may wanna re-think the 10" rims. Rolling the fenders you run a risk of damaging the paint. The fenders are already somewhat rolled. I'm gonna look into this some more cause I think I can do it especially if others did it with lowered suspension.
What are Nivomats? RedGalant2k1 06-15-06, 08:41 PM What are Nivomats?
Self-leveling shocks. Meaning if the load in the rear is increased (or decreased the Nivomats preserve the same ride height at all times. Black Ops 06-16-06, 01:03 AM I was gonna do the staggered look, but they didnt have the 20x10" in the rims I wanted. So I stayed with the 20x8.5"...I have them waiting for me at home so as soon as I get home today, thats the first thing I'm doing. Putting them on and taking pics.
