Gentlemen,
Its been awhile since I posted here. Since thelast time I was on I have managed to get my 472 stuffed into my 49 Ford truck and its driveable. My plan is to to go with fule injection. I managed to scrounge up one of the old port injected manifolds complete with injectors, fuel rails, and throttle body.

What I would like to do is to adapt modern electronics to the old hardware as the original computers were expensive and finicky. Has anyone messed with anything like this? I was thinking I could adapt the ECM from a late model GM vehicle with a port injected V8 to control the injectors.

Any thoughts??

If I were you, I would check out the Megasquirt controllers. I've heard really good things about them, and was going to go with one myself until I decided to stick with the carb. http://www.megasquirt.info/

I highly recomend the mega-squirt controller. I've been running one one a 53 Stude bracket car with a 500 cad for a couple of years. I can't race as much as I'd like but is is fun tuning in the pits with a laptop. I used an edelbrock manifold, I welded holley injector bungs in it. I adapted a BBK throttle body for a 460 ford truck to it. There are better ways then that tb but I run a large prostock type hood scoop so I had lots of room. I use 39lb. injectors which should be good for 500 hp but I'm not at that level yet. Have fun:)

There are several "ready to install" setups you can buy for old carbuerated engines.
Just shop around.
It would likely be easier to install a "kit" than to try to piece something together from some other application.

Just a suggestion... Maybe a complete aftermarket EFI setup for BIG Ford motors (460) and a Cadillac to Ford 460 intake adapter (spendin bucks, though)

Since you have all the factory goodies, a standalone controller is most likely a workable route :stirpot:
